Evod Tank bad for menthol liquids?

Hi everyone new to the forum.

Been vaping for about 2-3 months now. Just got some evod tanks in the mail today and when I tried them out I kept getting a burnt plastic taste. Try turning down the volts (I use an Ego Twist 1100mah) as well as removing some of the wicks, neither worked. I plan to give the tanks a good cleaning either tonight or tomorrow to see if that brings any improvement.
Anyway, I'm wondering if maybe my e-liquid flavor is part of the problem (I am currently using all menthol flavors). I remember reading somewhere that some tanks/clearomizers just don't work well with menthol flavors and I'm just wondering if anyone knows if the evod is one of those tanks. I've been using CE4 up until now which I know is top coil, where as the evod is bottom coil, so maybe this has something to do with it as well? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I use the evod also with BCC's, a great improvement from ce4's i started on, you could probably switch to the aerotank mini or similar tank made of glass, I don't use menthol so I wouldn't really know, but i use 50/50 ratio in mine and some heavier flavors such as custards, coils do gunk up, but a cleaning and dry burn has solved my problems. wish i could be of more help..

Soaked everything in alcohol for an hour rinsed it, let it dry over night, rinsed and dried it again, gave it a dry burn at 3.3v (even put a drop of e liquid right on the coil to get out some of that burnt taste), then filled it up and let it wick for about an hour....no difference still I'm getting that plastic taste even at lower voltages. I really don't understand how a product that has had so many rave reviews is performing this badly, incredibly disappointing. I'm just gonna stick with the ce4s for the time being, haven't had any problems with them, so no use fixing what isn't broken.

Welcome to ECF! There are certain juices that are tank crackers. If you have a plastic tank eventually it will break. I use 5ml PBC tanks. It's plastic on the outside but has a glass insert inside so I can vape any juice, including the tank crackers.

I had no problems with plastic iClear 16 and menthol juices. I think they are safest (after unflavored ones) for tanks. I never cleaned tank, just topped it, and I did not change coil for more than 2 months.
