I got this EVOD unit to get started vaping but I'm struggling with coil issues. It seems like about 1/2 the replacement coils that I bought for it are junk - they either JUST DONT WORK or they produce a nasty burnt flavor along with the juice flavor. Sometimes, they leak like a sieve from the moment I install them, gurgling and bubbling (like a hookah) and letting juice get into my mouth; and leaking tons if juice down into the top of the battery. I know it's the coils because I can grab another one, screw it in, put a drop of juice down the tube to prime it and the flavor and vapor production are great!

We're WAY out in the kuntry and, I think, when we head into the city to go to a smoke shop (to get supplies) they've just been selling me junk! Can someone tell me if there's a GOOD coil that'll work in this unit, and what (exactly) to search for online to find them??

I have a similar thread related to the Kanger Aerotank that I have coming; but what I need is a coil solution for this EVOD unit - it's going to become my backup unit.

Thanks, in advance, to all who reply!

Here's some pictures of the unit and one of the coils I have for it. The coil pictured is one that was a total failure!

I've never used them, but a pretty knowledgable member suggests hand-tensioned EVOD replacement "super coils". (Google that and you should find where to buy; I've never used them, but I did hear good things. Who knows)

I have heard that stock coils can be hit or miss. I started rebuilding mine right away, which isn't too terribly hard. If you're a country boy, you would probably even enjoy it :)

Don't put a drop of juice in the tube.

Ok, but that's what the salesperson said to do. He showed me how to do it when I bought the unit, "to prime the coil;" and the issues didn't start until I bought some replacement coils at a different store that's significantly closer to us. I've tried it without the drop, thinking I got bad info, and the results are the same either way.

I wouldn't put any juice down the tube, but rather put some dabs of juice directly on the ends of the wick that are sticking out. What are the ohms of the coils they are giving you? They look like legit Kangertech EVOD coils from here but there is no guarantee. I would try ordering from a reputable website.

That one says 2.5 ohm. So, I should be searching for "Kanger EVOD coil"? When I'm looking on websites?

I've heard a lot of people complain about that same problem in multiple tanks and every time it was the ohms from the coils were wrong by the look of your battery it is not variable wattage or voltage so make sure they are the 1.8 and if they say it on the side and you have access to an ohm meter double check it because I have seen them off a lot before

Brushy.... Fill the tank (but no higher than the tube down the center of the tank. Put the coil in the base and put the base back on the filled tank. Flip it over and take a couple of pulls on the tank before you put it back on your battery. This will help pull the liquid into the wicks. Then, put the tank onto your battery and try firing it. You may hear a little sizzle/hiss noise. That's a sign that you're starting to vaporize the juice.

IMO, from your pic, either the wick of the head you're showing is burnt or you're using dark juices.

I'm hoping the following is a pic of a disassembled EVOD tank :)

putting the drops on the wick like he said and "prime it" suck in and out on it lightly before firing the battery for the first time.

are those the 2.4 Ohms? (we had some of those when we started and have since given them away to friends that started vaping)

also Kanger's don't like to get down below a 1/3d to a 1/4th, they start gurgling and God forbid you lay them down when they're low, you'll be cleaning it all out *lol*

and you are in the BOONIES! *lol* Howdy neighbor!! *waves*

If you're vaping as soon as you install the heads you're probably burning the wicks because the liquid hasn't had time to soak in enough. Especially if you're using liquid that's 40%-50% VG. You also could have gotten knockoff coils, or sometimes there's bad batches. As was already said, you want 1.8 ohm coils with that battery.

I believe you want the coils for the Kanger MT3.

No, you don't.

Could the OP take a look at a coil that is working right and compare it to one that isn't? A T3s/MT3s coil has a smaller diameter washer under the coil than the one used in a PT/EVOD. If a shop sold you some coils made for the T3s/MT3s with the smaller size metal washer that would be the source of all the problems.

If they are two different diameter washers the difference is obvious - you don't need to measure them to check. The one it the image looks like it's the smaller size.

Thanks for the tip on rebuilding them! Once the guiding season ends for me, early next year, I'm going to give it a try. Just starting my busiest part if the year and I don't have ANY real free time.

Make sure all the little silicone seals are placed properly. If you are just starting and quitting the stinky sticks, you may be pulling to hard, soften your draw (inhale). Also DO NOT over tighten the tank to the battery! As a country boy, it may seem intuitive to tighten it down, not with vaping snug is good. Never put juice down the same hole you draw from EVER! I follow a strict ten minute rule when changing heads, fill wait ten minutes, then two or three dry pulls (not firing the battery to help ensure the wicks are saturated), a couple of quick fires, and happy vaping.

I'm sure you get great satisfaction of doing things for your self, if so you may enjoy rebuilding your coils. I make all of my own coils on my Kanger products. It is not difficult, plenty of tutorials on youtube, you likely have most of what you need. Be sure to get a good Ohm meter, check your resistance before placing on the battery. If you go the way of rebuilding and use cotton wicks, it is tricky getting just the right amount of cotton. General rule with cotton less is more, if you have flooding issues, you can always add more. I personally love my eVod tank and use it every day. It is common to get a little juice leak at the top of the battery, just wipe when refilling the tank. Also if you don't use it for awhile, or leave it in the car, I tip mine upside down. If it warm out you may have leaks as the air inside the tank expands, I find tipping it upside down allows air to enteror exit the tank and keeps the juice up in the tank.

Keep us posted as to your trials, many people here to assist you.

I order the coils for our Evods online, either from Sun Vapers or Mt. Baker Vapor. I trust both sites to send me genuine Kanger coils, and have had only 1 or 2 bad coils straight out of the box. You want the Kanger single coils that are listed for Evod and Protank 2 Mini. Both sites have reasonable pricing and delivery charges, and orders usually go out by the next day.

Can't thank you enough for all the great pointers! Definitely getting some leakage right now as it's about 104-108 every afternoon at the ranch. Ugh! Y'all have been a great help!!

One last question: should I stick with the 2,5 ohm in the EVOD or should I drop down to 2.0? I'm using a 50/50 mix for my juices and I do like a good amount if vapor and (I think it's called) a throat hit. Just don't want red hot vapor.

If I were me I would avoid anything 1.8 ohm or lower. The Kanger design just gets too hot at 1.8 or 1.5 ohms even at your lowest voltage settings - you don't have any room to dial down low enough if you need to. 2.0 ohm is ok, I prefer 2.2 ohm or 2.5 ohm myself.
