Hi all - have been using for a month or so now EVOD with bottom coil unit. I have changed to a new coil but after 1 week tasting burnt. Have watched some videos on cleaning - but newbie questions:
- how to do a dry burn - or is it necessary
- can just clean off the coil/flavor wick - and let dry overnight
- how long 1 coil is good for usually

Can't seem to find what ohm is standard - if I want to purchase new coils - seems like I need to know what the ohm-ige is :)

thanks for any advice...

There are some good videos on dry burning. I ruined a coil the first time I tried it but after that, I learned. It is not necessary but sometimes will give your coil a longer life

I like to soak my coil heads in vodka overnight if there are strong flavors in the wick. It works :)

I am in my 4th week of vaping also and most of my original coils are still good. But I have a rotation of about 6 tanks, so they are not each getting continuous use.

Standard ohms on the evod coils I have used is 2.2, 2.4, or 2.5. If you look very carefully on the "stem" of the coil head, it is often etched there. You might need a magnifier and a good light source! Depending on your battery, if you try to use lower resistance ("ohms"), you can get a nasty burned taste, this happened to me with 1.8 ohm coil replacements.

This is the process I use and recommend:

Soak in alcohol (Not Rubbing Alcohol) overnight
Rinse throughly with warm tap water forcing water into the wick area
Towel dry and blow out any water
Remove the gasket and stem
Remove the flavor wick(s)
Dry burn 6 watts, 5 seconds on/off. Repeat until coils are all turning red and wick is clean.
Blow the burned off crud away
Place the flavor wick back on top of the coil
Dry burn as above to cleanup the flavor wick (4-5 cycles should do it)
Reinstall the stem and gasket.

You are good to go.

I have half a dozen evods and a couple of pt2 minis (same coils). Been vaping them for about six weeks, Im still using the original, supplied 2.5 ohm coils on evod or smok ego batteries. Using light colored juices and rinsing them in hot tap water every couple of tanks, quick dry burns every couple of days. My juices are 50/50 mixes. Mostly monthol, spearmint and a strawberry.

I know the coils arent going to last forever but I am pretty amazed by the lifespan I have gotten with the kanger coils. This doesnt seem to be the norm as every day there seems to be a post in the new members forum about the general crappyness of a kanger evod coil.

The maintenance I perform doesn't take but 2 mins and I rarely wait more than a few mins for them to dry before I fill em back up and vape on. I keep the same flavor going in the same tank most of the time.

I also usually dont find much burnt gunk on the wicks. Rarely get a dry hit and flood only if I chain vape on a tank when its getting low (1/4 full or so).

My rinse procedure is to take the bottom off the tank, pull the gasket and chimney off, pull the flavor wicks off with a pair of tweezers and set thm on a paper towel. Rinse the tank and bottom (with the coil still in the metal bottom part) shake em off and set the tank on the paper towel. Put the bottom on my battery, pulse it a few times (till it sizzles a bit maybe 3-4 times) not more than a second or so per pulse. I will blow on it a bit while pulsing it. Blot off the flavor wicks, reassemble it, shake out any water drops in the tank, and fill it.

Give it a couple of pulls without firing it, maybe wait 5 mins (mostly not tho) for the juice to wick in.

Then ill fire it for a few short puffs (the first few are usually nothing but tapwater steam). Tasty flavor ensues in about 4 or 5 puffs. Done. Five minutes. Tops.

Ive gone through about 120 ml of juice between my wife and I in six weeks with these same coils in our half a dozen shared tanks.

I dont know is this is commom, ive only been vaping since new years day but I am happy with the taste, have quit smoking and have 10 spare coils waiting for my originals to die.

I would love to know if I am just lucky or what?
