Hi folks. I'm a UK consumer here so may not have access to mainstream stuff you guys use in the US.

Started out with an eGo 1100 battery and a CE4 clearomizer. Was alright but I noticed a lot of dry hits initially. I smoke menthol for years so I went immediately for derivatives of menthol and found that so far, the best was hangsen premium menthol sensation. I hear hangsen get a lot of bad press and after trying their maple syrup flavour I am not surprised, but this juice is damn good, and has some very good reviews on YT.

So, obviously I started researching about the different sorts of devices and I then tried a GV4, it was awful, burnt and dry, nasty.

Next was the CE5+, I thought it was really good compared to the the CE4 and GV4, but after leaving it for an hour or coming to use it in the morning, it's giving a good few dry hits, I have to give it maybe 4 good pulls, leave it, come back to it after a few minutes and it's working nicely again.

So, because it wasn't perfect, I tried the Evod clearomizer, it got some great reviews, but I have to say I am really disappointed. At first it seemed like it wasn't getting enough power, but I don't think that is an issue. It behaves exactly like all the others, when I pick it up after some time, I get dry hits, then it's alright, but it takes longer to get rid of the dry hit thing. Still, even after it is vaping nicely, it's no where near as good a taste as the CE5, which surprised me.

Well, I can certainly live with this priming thing that maybe everybody has to do. I really don't know. CE5 reviews say no dry hits, evod reviews says no dry hits, this is simply not true. Any thoughts?

CE5 is a top filler with long wicks, and the Evod a bottom filler, but both have replacement coils...I have never had a dry hit with any top filler clearomizer...I find the CE5 always be exactly spot on, unless U let it go to0 low on liquid.....however I have had many dry hits, gurgling, airy hits, and mouthfuls of juice with the Evods and all bottom fillers though, especially if U let the tank get below half full. so always keep it full as best U can......The evod is best with a high resistance 2.4 ohm coil, and has 2 flavor wicks...the dry burn is common with the Evods if ya use the lower resistance 1.8 coils or do not remove one of the flavor wicks, or let the tank liquid get too low... ....

The CE4 seems like it was meant to be hit like a cigarette, with the short wick. You have to tilt it up to get a good hit. The good and bad, good the units are cheap and good throw away units, bad most of this stuff comes from China and is hit or miss. It may work or may not, quality control is not as good as most would like over there, and the warranty is worthless on most of this stuff.

I'm getting that the CE5 might be a better option. I think the menthol flavour itself might have something to do with the dry hits, because it's such a clear and cutting sort of hit, other flavours are warmer, it's harder to detect what's going on with each hit I guess, you don't FEEL it so much. Regards the batteries, I don't know jack about this stuff, all I know is that I can buy a 650, an 1100, or a 1300. Which would be best you reckon?

Thanks.

Most of my top coils (CE4+, CE5) are my back up. I like the CE5 (wickless - it's a catomizer but non replaceable).

My daily vaps are on Protank mini, 4 EVOD, protank. Which are all bottom feeders. I find them to never give any problems. When I had dry hits are my faults (forget to check the level and it was dry. the other time vaping in bed upside down and wick never got any liquid. :-( ).

You do have to check and see if your wicks are wicking and may be remove one of the wick if not wicking. Resistant have noting to do with any of the problems. I use different resistant depending on the juice. No problems. When I feel the vap is a little dry, I give it a pull without firing and its fine.

Good luck.
