"Dry Hit" explained?

Hey Guys and Girls

I finally got my EGO-T LCD and CE5 on Monday and i am trying to get the hang of it... i think i may be getting a lot of "dry hits" however i am not entirely sure what a "Dry Hit" is... haha

What i am finding is that more often than not i only get a small amount of vapor and no throat hit (i think that is a dry hit) then on every now and then i get a beautiful hit of vapor with a massive throat hit and bags of flavor and awesomeness :D

i dont feel like i am doing anything different to cause this and i am wondering if it is the CE5 i am using. i have a Mini Pro-tank II on order which should turn up in a day or 2 just wondering if there is any advice, tips or tricks i can use until it arrives

Dry hits are pretty noticeable. Nasty burning chemical taste.

It kind of sounds like, to me, that you don't have a good connection between your topper and your battery (or somewhere in the battery unit), since you seem to be taking some drags and getting nothing at all. Maybe someone else can comment on how to test that out.

Check the resistance of your coil. What are the Ego-T is a fixed voltage device. You probably are not getting too much voltage, but you may be getting too little causing little, if any, vapor, flavor and throat hit. Again this is why you want a variable voltage battery to be able to tailor your voltage to your coil resistance. Could be many things, but this is the one I think of when I hear about the fixed voltage batteries. Please let us know your resistance. Best to you.

Hello
I'll ask the obvious-- did you fill the tank up then allow the wicks time to fully absorb plenty of fluid ?
then screw tank onto battery, loosely, just till you feel it make contact, then just ¼ turn more
then some dry pulls threw it (not pushing the fire button)
these simple steps should be done each time you re-tank...

do you have another tank to try / sure the battery is full charged

just a few thoughts

good luck :?:

"Dry hits" take place when your device can't supply enough juice to the hot coil fast enough to cool it off. As a result, you'll end up inhaling hot air from the overheated coil or/and the smoke from the gunk that's being roasted on the coil--not vapor! Not a good thing.

If your coil is not wet at all times--you'll get dry hits. Never over vape, chain vape, power vape, or vape at excessive power (wattage)--you'll starve the coil.

i had ce4 tank, it uses vivi nova atties ... i tried 5 different atties with different resistences, they all didnt perform the way they should ... the wicks didnt get wicked fast enough, the white rubber cap pushed into the wick to tight ... its a bad build .... plus its got a pritty tiny coil with hotspots , so if you bump the voltage you gotta have the juice flowing ... you most likely getting good hits when wick gets enough time to saturate

but also if your filling your whole tank up your flooding the coil (meaning there is too much juice on coil and its not vaporizing it, it'll gurgle) .... thats gonna give you exactly what you described, hardly no vapor ... and bad taste

ego-t is VV with 3.2 - 4.8 v , the dial is the silver bottom that Twist hence the name Ego-Twist, and his is newer version with lcd...

Dry burning is the 'burning' of gunky residue that has built up on the coil of your atty. When this happens, you will not have to ask yourself "did I just get a dry burn?" You will recoil in pure horror. As most have said, you're likely under powered. What juice are you using? Is it dark? Syrupy? Some juice will just naturally be 'gunkier' than others, and the eventual burnt taste will ensue.

For this reason I try to steer clear of dark juices.

If you really like the ego style batteries I would recommend that you check out an ego twist immediately. My sweet wife has been using them for well over a year, and at times I will sample it. It surprises me every time.

Ego t isn't an ego twist.

Yeah--it is confusing.... Ego T is just a set voltage battery (3.3 v regulated); eGo-C Twist is a variable voltage.

But there also is an eGo T upgrade with dual voltage (3.3v regulated and 3.7v unregulated).

ETA: I'm talking about Joyetech batteries. Anybody can call a clone an eGo-T and sell it to unsuspecting customers.

wow so many variables....

Yes it is a fixed voltage with a puff count not the twist

i have a mate that is going to lend me a Vamo (hopefully tomorrow) and if i like it i might buy one :)

and i'm definitely hanging for the pro-tank so far i have been less than impressed with the CE5 however in saying that after playing with the centre pin it is working quite a bit better :)

Thanks again everyone

I think eltranced got it. Sounds like flooding rather than dry hits. I get the exact same symptoms when my Evod or cartomizers flood. Poor vapor, poor flavor. Dry hits will be like described many times already in this thread. Nasty, burnt, "dry" flavor but not necessarily poor vapor production.
