I'd seen the mall e-cigs and had heard they were horribly expensive so I never really looked into them. I was walking into 7-11 one day and saw they had kits for $20, one battery, 2 cartos and a USB charger that I later found was nearly identical to the $150 kit at the mall; same batts, crappier cartos and charger but not $130 crappier. I bought one on a whim just to see what it was like.

I cut my cigarette consumption in half without even really trying so I thought I might be able to quit with that. I tried to make it work, but that little RN4081 just didn't cut it for me and I quickly realized I wasn't going to save any money shopping at the convenience store.

I started looking online for info about my e-cig and started looking for something better. Quickly realizing that there are many "review" sites out there that exist only to hype a particular vendor, I dug a little deeper and found ECF, a wealth of information.

I did a lot of reading and a bit of question asking before I wound up with a eGo kit and a variety of cartos, attys and juices. Hooray, it was the eGo Mega type B atty that was what it took to make the switch. Battery life still wasn't what I was looking for, tried the 1000 mAh batteries and they could almost get me through the day.

Like many vapers, I found myself wanting more vapor. I was always reluctant to try a LR atty/carto on the eGo as I'd heard it could release the magic smoke that makes electonics work so I wound up with my first mod, a mini Roughstack. I went with the mini because I thought it would be nice stealthy mod for times when it paid to be discrete. Well, vaping a 1.5 ohm 306 on a 3.7V mod isn't terribly stealthy, but it did make for a nice vape.

A 18350 didn't get me through a whole day so I wound up getting into modding after spending many, many hours reading up on Li-Ion battery safety watching some of the Stickam shows and (thanks Tek). A dual parallel 14500 box mod was my first effort and it was nice. Finally, enough battery life to get through a whole day.

You can't spend too much time on ECF without hearing about 5 or 6 volt vaping, so I had to try that next. A 14500 5v boxmod was next for me, loved it at the time, but I was back down to less than a days worth of vaping from my batteries. Next up was another 5V mod with 18650s this time in an Altoids tin. Yay! 2+ days of vaping from one set of batteries.

VV was next. Everyone was talking about variable voltage so I got a MadVapes VV board kit and a voltage indicator and stuck them in another Altoids tin with a pair of 18650s for power. I discovered I didn't really need the 12 watts of power I been vaping at with the 5V mods I had. I found that I didn't like it as much when I could dial in just the right voltage. That's what I'm currently vaping on.

These days I have my favorite atty, an IKV i06 at 2.5 ohms, and a favorite carto, standard resistance Boge at 3 ohm. I like the atty at 4.1 - 4.2 volts and the carto, in a tank, at 4.7 - 4.8 volts, both around 7 watts. Sometimes I get a little tired of fiddling with the voltage so next up for me is variable wattage. I have a DNA board from Evolvapor on the way.

I know I'm exempt since I already won but I will share my experience too. :)

It was right before Christmas during the Christmas shopping rush and my husband dropped me and the kids off at Walmart to do a bit of shopping. He ran to the mall to shop a little himself and returned telling me all about this amazing thing called an ecig that he saw at the mall kiosk and how we should buy one. When he told me how much I said  "Let me look online and read more about it. LOL

So I looked online did some research and ordered a SAFECIG kit. 3 days later I get an email saying they are out of stock and my order would be delayed 2 weeks. :glare: So I went back online and did more research. I did not want to wait. Luckily I stumbled accross ECF and lots of youtube videos and settled on trying an EGO-T which I ordered with expidited shipping and received the next day. It was December 28,2011 when it arrived. I just couldn't wait. Especially after thinking my Safecig was going to arrive any day. Really liked the EgoT, at the time, and it kept me cigarette free from the very moment I took my fist puff. I actually STILL have a pack of Marlboro Lights in the closet that I never smoked.

Over time I felt I needed a bit more and heard about the KGO, which was supposed to be a true 3.7volt, and since my husband and I were sharing an EGO kit, we ordered a Kgo kit too so we would each have one Ego battery and one Kgo battery. We also decided to try cartomizers and liked them much more than the tank system or the atomizers that came with the Kgo.

Then of course being on ECF we caught the bug. Yes, the got to try everything bug. So we tried single coil cartomizers, dual coil, XL, and XXXXL, Megas and horizontals, as well as Ce2, 3, and 4. and found we like the Boge std size to be the best, which is what we started with. Next I have moved into atties, such as the 306 and i06 which I like much more than the 510's. I was also recently given my first carto tank which is great when you have your hands full with babies, or are on the go. I prefer the ones that take the Boge std size of course.

Then came the mods. :headbang: First it was the Lavatube which I will defend to the very end. I loved it. Lots of power and a great price. I sold the plain black ones and I now have a stainless steel mini as well as a SS Standard on the way. Next was the bottomfeeders. First it was a Journeyman and next the REO. Liked the convenience of not having to drip and they work great. I still use them often but also love my cartos in a tank as well. With the Reo, if the kids grab it the juice in the drip cup spill and it can't be turned on it's side. So when I'm out and about it's always the tank. The tanks are also great at night when I'm just laying in bed watching tv as it can be tilted on it's side without leaking.

I won't even get into how many juices I have tried, and how my taste has evolved or I would have you reading all day, :tumble: but let's just say it has been a challenge to find juices that I really like and can vape all day. I've been lucky enough to finally find some that I truly enjoy but it wasn't easy or cheap getting here.

So my evolution of vaping continues! When I started vaping I was looking for a replacement for cigarettes and it has become so much more. It has become a way of life. I love to try all the new devices and gadgets and love to research all the newest upcoming ideas. I'm so happy to have found vaping and all the help and support of everyone here. :) My experience has truly been an evolution of vaping. :vapor:

GOOD LUCK! on the Contest everyone and I am honored to have won the last contest.:banana: I can not wait to get my gorgeous Evolution tank. I am so excited and I LOVE LOVE LOVE that it takes standard sized cartos and not the dual coils. I have been looking for a standard tank and seems there are not many out there. Thanks for the Contest!! :thumb:

I remember my sister had brought one of the disposables over and since it wasn't menthol, I gave it to my husband. He enjoyed it while it lasted and threw it away. Forgot all about them. Months later I had a bout of bronchitus and thought I wonder if that would help me get through this. I had bronchitus a lot, so if it worked, I planned to use it for those times as it was hard to smoke and I was a hard core, 2pad smoker. Long story short, I ordered the kit and the second day using it, I decided these things taste so much better than cigarettes, why even bother with them. I quit smoking and started vaping. LOL I used the kit for a few weeks and realized I wanted more, so I got a couple of 808 batteries and then recently a 650. I research every thing to death, so needless to say, the first week I found efc and have been here ever since. I see lots of pretties and blingies that I will eventually get. I have gone from menthol tasting bacco juices to peaches and pears and strawberries and gooey caramel cake. rofl. I am having great fun vaping and meeting some of the most fantastical people in the world.

Morri

p.s. I forgot to mention that my husband tasted mine and decided he wanted to change over to vaping too. We have a smoke free home and I am loving it. :)

About 2 years ago I saw a banner ad on some website advertising e-cigs. Im kinda a tech junky and thought, wow! its the cigarette of the future! At that point I had been smoking cigarettes for about 15 years and had been getting bronchitis about once or twice a year, so I though not only would it help me quit, but it looked interesting and wanted to see how it worked. So $80 later I purchased a VaporKing 510 kit. The first few days of vaping it were ok, but it felt like it lacked something and the refill cartridges were getting expensive. Seemed like more of an expensive gimmick then an actual tool to quit. I used it for about a year, still smoking cigarettes the whole time. It wasnt until about a year ago I decided to look for other types of e-cigs and found the eGo-t. It seems that ecig technology had come a long way with bigger batteries and more efficient juice delivery systems. So I bought the eGo kit and from the first puff I knew I could quit analogs. I threw away a full pack of Parliments and never looked back. Soon after that I discovered ECF and after spending every waking moment on here reading and researching I decided to delve into the world of big battery mods. Now vaping has become a serious hobby for me. Seems to be the standard progression for vapers, starting with a small cigarette kit, moving to an eGo, and then to the mods. The best part is, I absolutely can't stand the smell of cigarettes anymore. I will NEVER go back to analogs. And my juice nicotine level is down to about 12mg to 6mg.

My boyfriend and I both began our vaping journey on 510 kits from Aqua Vapor. I had begun researching e-cigs at least a month prior to the purchase so we were quite committed. Within a month, we bought Ego LCDs and loved the 1100mah battery life. Shortly after that we noth got our first mods, Diamonds from Parkes Vaping. I then got a sweet deal on 2 Boge Rev2s on the classifieds and we used all our devices happily, besides the ol' 510s, for months, until I won a Mini LT kit. After a couple of months with that, I was lucky enough to recently (few weeks ago) win another Mini LT kit, so now we both us them! I recently made another leap, bought my first rebuildable tank atty, which is being made right now and should be shipping to me by Monday :D (It's the RA Crack tank for anyone curious). I'm very excited to try it! My eventual goal is to get a Zenesis or something similar, but it will probably be quite some time before that. We're both very happy, almost half a year smoke-free, and wouldn't change a thing! :)

Well, last year I got my wife pregnant. She was a PAD smoker and I a 2 PAD smoker, we just loved smoking. She quit right when she found out she was preggo (last Mother's Day:D ) and was urging me to quit. I had smoked for over a decade and ended up buying some cheapo ecigs off DealExtreme. That wasn't working so I moved up to a 1000mah eGo-T kit. So about two months before my daughter was born I finally quit the analogs using the eGo-T. From there I moved to VV vaping with a Lavatube, and then changed the cartos up a bit and added a tank. As of this week I have over 6 months analog free and am now using a Mark-7 Destroyer VV wood boxmod from RedSkyMods. My lovely wife just passed her year mark on Mother's Day :D I am very proud of her. And thats the abridged version of my vaping evolution. Thanks for reading haha.

And a huge Thank You for this contest!

A friend recommended e-cigs. I didn't want to be a smoker, but didn't want to quit (if that makes any sense) so I gave them a try. But first I went from light to ultra-light analogs to ease the transition. I never said I was going to quit analogs because that would have put me in a mental state to want analogs more. Despite never deciding to quit, as soon as I started vaping, analogs tasted terrible and I've never looked back.

My first PV's were small KR808's, then the longer ones, and a cheap 5V passthrough. Battery life sucked and I didn't want to refill so often, so I got a Maxi-Roughstack (@3.7 & 7.4) and a couple of tanks. I discovered that I liked 3.7 just fine with 2-2.5 cartos (got drip tips which made it easier to refill) and loved the increased throat hit and vapor compared to my little batteries. I had a ton of leaking problems with the tanks and I realized that if all my stuff was 3.7 I didn't have to buy so many different resistance cartos, so 2-2.5 cartos became my go to. I also I got an inexpensive 18650 e-power for backup and a 1000mah ego with passthrough function for flexibility and since the cheapo passthroughs kept breaking. I won a stainless steel cartomizer tank here on ECF. It works well & I use it at home mostly. Finding 7.4 too hot for me and learning about the dangers of stacking batteries, I got a regular Roughstack to use the batteries I bought to stack in the Maxi. There are lots of beautifully crafted and more technologically advanced (but expensive) PV's out there, but I am thoroughly satisfied with my set up and feel I get good performance for the money. And not only am I not spending money on analogs, I don't have to have a constant supply of mints and gum anymore :p

Oh yeah, I've used 0-12mg juice the whole time. Initially bought tobacco flavors and found I generally didn't like them. I like sweet vapes, nutty vapes, fruity vapes, and minty vapes.

I was a pack + per day smoker (sometimes 2 pad), when I quit smoking using the patch on 10/29/11. I had a nasty accident on 10/31/11, but somehow managed to stay off of the stinkies - thought the smelled horrible, but still wanted them almost daily, and couldn't bump down to step 2 of the patch without intense cravings, irritability, and dreams about smoking!

On 1/23/12, I had to go to a deposition regarding the accident. The friend who drove me to the depo was/is (still working on her), a clove smoker, and when I got out of the depo, I ripped that patch off as fast as I could and inhaled 3 cloves as quickly as I could! I put a patch back on when I got home, but that night, I plotted and planned and schemed and fantasized about buying a pack of cigarettes the next day while Iron Monkey was at work!

I was ready to put my plan into action the next day when a little voice inside my head said: "buy an ecig! You've come this far, don't :censored: it all up now!" I debated it for a few minutes, then googled smoke shops. The first shop I called had a Mistic available. I was there within 10 minutes, bought a starter kit with 1 battery, a charger and 2 cartos, as well as a 5pk of replacement menthol cartos in hopes that it would be the answer to those horrible cravings. It was! The menthol was terrific, and I chain vaped that battery until it died 6 hours later. Oh crap.... I had to make it through charging time, because I only had one batt! I did a little research, and found that my Sams club carried the Mistic, so the next day, off I went to Sams club to buy 2 more batteries, and a "carton" of cartos. I found ECF at the same time, but thought the people on here were wonky, fanatic hobbyists, and wondered what the fuss was about

I was happy with my Mistic for a while - I got great life out of them considering they're auto stinky clones (6 hours of solid chain vaping - they barely left my lips!), and I even refilled the cartos myself, but the flavor and vapor production of the refilled cartos kind of stunk, so I did more research, and ordered my first "big girl" (haha) kit - a pink kGo, and when it arrived, that was it. I was amazed by the flavor and vapor, was a little disappointed that it only lasted an hour or two longer than the Mistic, but was happy, and had no intention of upgrading again any time soon!

And then... I caught the bug!

I ordered an Ego-T kit - love the batteries (Iron Monkey uses them daily now), but hated the tank system that came with them, so just used the batts with different cartos and tanks. Then I discovered the classies... ruhroh! :danger:

Once I discovered the classies and the deals & steals thread, and I lost my marbles! I bought over 2000ml (yes over two thousand ml!!!) of juice, a gold rush, a maxi roughstack v2, a black LT kit (the only vendor purchase since the kGo & ego-T), a REO Grand and a red LT, tanks and cartos and clearos and atties - ohmy - all in under a month!! I'd suddenly become one of those wonky, fanatical hobbyists I hadn't understood just a few weeks before - if they made it, I wanted to try it!!!

I still have most of the APVs I bought in March (the roughstack was PIFd privately along with most of the juice and all of the clearos I didn't like), and have settled down a bit with my buying, though I did pick up a REO mini from the classies (it arrived today, and it is rapidly becoming my favorite piece of vaping gear!). I've mostly figured out what I like, which juices I prefer on which device & wattage, and how I prefer each juice - in an atty or in a carto/tank system.

I'm in the process of stocking up on my favorites and contemplating thinning the herd of the things I don't see myself (or Iron Monkey), making use of. I haven't had a single craving for a cigarette since I got the first Mistic, though I have had 4 puffs from stinkies, 1 puff the first time, 3 puffs the second time (it was a menthol), and.. YICK! Both times I wound up with a sore throat, thought it tasted wretched, and just wanted my vapor back! I have no interest in ever going back to smoking, and am grateful every day for listening to that little voice telling me to find an ecig rather than go out and buy a pack!

I still look at the classies :danger: and the deals and steals thread :danger: daily, but my wild spending spree is a little less wild thanks to having a better idea of what I like, and I can't see myself giving up vaping - it satisfied the nicotine addiction, but more importantly, it satisfied the habit/ritual portion of smoking that nothing else had (patch, gum, etc) - I can vape after a meal, in the car, when I'm stressed, bored - any time I would have lit up (or wanted to!) previously, without reeking of dirty ashtray - but I might smell of strawberries or peaches or pears or guilt free Thin Mint Cookies! I breathe better, I smell better, and I'm all around much happier to have evolved from a smoker to a vaper :smokie:

Thanks for the great contest - I love reading all of the stories :)

Back in November I got an email for a free trial ecig. I was intrigued, as I'd tried every method out there to quit and could never make it past the 3 month mark. I clicked on the link, checked out their website and went so far as to fill out the form and almost ordered it. Then I read the fine print,, what? They're going to automatically send me stuff every month? I'm not sure I like that. So I did not hit the submit button, but started a mad research of ecigs. Of course, Google led me to all those review sites and I ended up ordering a big kit from V2. I'll never forget the day it came. One puff on that thing and I knew,,,, I KNEW,, this was going to work for me! I still had a couple packs of smokes and for two weeks I alternated between analogs and that V2 but I had vowed I would never buy another analog... and I didn't. My real journey started on 12/5/11.

Shortly after that I found ECF and started reading. OH MY, there was a lot of reading!! Darn, I paid a lot of money for that V2 but it worked for me,,, and who knew there were so many options out there!! I quickly became disappointed with the short battery life of my V2s and ordered an Elite 808 kit. Battery life was so much better!! I also discovered that you could refill those cartos,, and even buy blank ones and fill them yourself with FLAVORS! WOW!!!! The buying began,,, juices galore and I was amazed! Fruits, and desserts, and drinks... OH MY! I was getting 3 or 4 packages a week! And boy, I better find something to store all this stuff in!

I joined ECF and soon discovered all the great people here, started asking questions and found a whole new world of vaping. Who knew there were so many people into this??? I spent every waking hour that I wasn't working trolling this forum and learning. It became apparent that there was so much more to this than my little V2 or Elite.. and ordered my first KGO kit. There's no turning back now!!

I was pretty sure I would never want anything more than that KGO.. but it's like an infectious disease. You read about Reo's and Lavatubes and boxmods and woodies... oh, I'll never need any of those. Until you troll the classifieds and find an exellent deal on a lavatube and OMG... wish I'd found this thing sooner! There's a lot of that,, wish I'd found this sooner.

I'm still on the hunt for the perfect carto/clearo/tank... whatever. Also still looking for the perfect juices but it's just so darn fun trying everything! I've narrowed it down some, but it's hard when every day brings some new piece of equipment that's supposed to be the latest and greatest, or some new juice vendor makes an appearance. I've spent way more than I would have on analogs, but I hardly care about that...

I'm almost 6 months in, give a lot of credit to V2 for getting me started on this journey, and big kudos to ECF for providing a place to find people who are like-minded, who are always quick to answer a question and who have become good friends. I'm grateful every day that I got that email, equally grateful I didn't fall for their free trial and to the fabulous vendors here who have made this transition so easy!

Over a year ago my father brought in the e-cigs. They were e-go's so they were not bad at all. He had addies to try them with. I still don't know how to use addies right, so I wasn't wow'ed by they right off. The cardo's came in a month later for myself along with some better flavors. Vanilla cola was a hit for me. It however tasted more like cherry cola, lol. I still have a 3ml left of it.

My father kept buying me small additions of flavors, keeping me likeing it more and more. He then started to win contests of ECF. The stuff he won made me want better even more each win. As I lost contest after contest, he'd win contest after contest. He had mods built for him, and let me use one. I'm still addicted to that box vary volt mod. Time rolled by and he crafted tanks. It made my day to get my hands on tanks. After a while, with the help of money, I found a sell I couldn't pass up. I was with three fireflys.

My co-works laughted at me at first, but later liked seeing what I kept bringing to work. They still laught every now and then. Koolaid came in, my favorite vapor now, has helped me stop smokeing cigs. My dad won another few contests and gave me another even more big battery.

Vapors, tanks, batterys, and public vapeing has changed over the few years for me. Now I talk to people about vapeing and their vapes, like an old lady who started 5 years ago. My freedom of vapeing has grown, and I love it more each day.

Thank you for the contest, and happy vapeings ;)

I had smoked for 26 yrs and had tried numerous times to quit. I was able to when I was pregnant but it seemed right after giving birth I wanted a smoke. I tried patches then chantix and was getting bad side effects from both so they didn't work at all. Last summer I bought a disposable e-cig which was quite good for what it was but it did not last long, so off to analogs I went again. I had forgotten all about vaping until I was having trouble breathing at night and in the morning. At that time I realized that I had to do something or my health was just going to get worse. I ordered a 510 kit online and waited for it to arrive. When I received it I rushed to charge it, after what seemed to be forever it finally was ready. One inhale and I was pleasently surprised it was so much better then the disposable was. The next day I had 1 analog in the morning and that was is, fully done done with paying a outragous price for something that was making me ill. I then moved on to an Ego which was alot better for the longer time between charges. Then I won an awesome mod on the forum and now I know there is no turning back everything tastes better and more importantly I can breathe.

My journey with E-CIGS has been an experience I am so glad I was able to take part in. I smoked cigarettes since I was 14 yrs. old. No Kidding over 20 yrs.
I went from menthol to lights then went to Marlboro reds. I quit while I was pregnant, but started again.
I didnt really want to quit smoking, I liked it.
A co-worker was in her office and as I walked by, I saw a plume of what I thought was smoke, but as it turned out it was vapor.
I asked her what are you doing? Oh my, she talked for an hour about e-cigs and allllllll i needed to know about it. She is a very informed person, so she knew what was ( IHHO ) the best brands and models of all that was on the market 2 years ago. I was so interested as she told me about it, but I did nothing about it.

One day I got a visit from my daughter and she let me know I would be a grandma for the 2nd time. So having 2 grands and smoking just didnt seem like a good thing .

I went online started researching and the first site I came to was here, what a bunch of nice people I read and read, and finally ordered my first kit. It was a tiny little 401 type kit, my husband and I shared the kit, well I had to order another and another and another........................
THE KITS GOT BIGGER AND BETTER!!! WE HAD TO TRY THEM ALL!!!!!

With in the first few days, and the rest of the analogs we had already bought, we had no problem in stopping the analogs, and committed our selves to be P.V. addicts LOLOLOl
I have been able to share the info, and good points in vaping, I've been able to help several other people quit analogs,
It's truly amazing to me, that so many people are so kind and thoughtful and generous.

If I was having a rough day with my new found hobby?, obscession?,way of life,!!! all I had to do was come here to ECF, it took no time before I was able to have my questions answered, my problems solved, oh yeah and PIF, what!!!!!! Love it.

To this day I still don't think I have saved any money by quitting analogs, because my goodness, there is always something new I have to try.

Hubz and I have not had, nor desired , a cigarette in 2 years....

well that's my story, love reading about everyones experiences

great idea for contest!!

Wow, some great stories. Mine is pretty lame. I decided to try an e-cig figuring if I even used it occasionally it would save me some money. So I went to a local brick and mortar where I met some nice folks that sold me an eGo clone. I haven't touched a smoke since then, which has been just over 6 months. My vaping evolution was fairly slow I dabbled with cartos, attys, tips, juices and the like. Recently I decided to up my game and purchased a VV stainless steel Vtube, which I totally love. Now I defend vaping to the death and will take the time to educate anyone that wants to listen.

MY VAPING JOURNEY:

I'll try to make this a "short one":

I was an advid, two packages a day smoker for many, many years. One of the things in life I enjoyed more than anything, was smoking. I'd smoke all the time ... everywhere I could. Even if smoking was "not permitted" ... I'd find a place to do it. Yes, nothing stopped me. I simply LOVED TO SMOKE!

Well, one day I developed a "shortness of breath". I had to start using an enhaler to help me breath. Did I stop smoking? Nah ... I told myself "one day I'll stop, maybe next month", and kept on smoking. Soon, I was using my enhaler off and on ALL day long. Did THAT stop me? Nah ... I kept telling myself "next month I'll stop".

I remember it was a Saturday morning when I woke up coughing, but that wasn't unusual. But THIS morning what WAS unusual was that I coughed up blood. I can't tell you the horror I felt ... the feeling that went over me. I just knew "I was too late". I thought to myself, "my smoking is finally going to kill me" - literally.

To make a long story very short ... that Saturday morning was the last time I ever smoked.

I started vaping on this cheap, horrible little disposable I had bought during one of the "months I was going to quit". It was very difficult, since it was a terrible little ecig. I immediately got online searching for a better "starter kit". The 510 starter kit was much better, and made the cravings MUCH less. From there I advanced (VERY QUICKLY) to an eGo, then to an Infinity Pro VV. I now drip or use carts or tanks.

I'm very thankful for that Saturday morning experience (though, I wasn't at the time) ... but it probably saved my life.

It's been over a year and a half since I've had a "real" cigarette. Within a couple months of quitting cigarettes, I could breath better and have never used an enhaler again ... and I have never had problems with coughing up blood since. I firmly believe that VAPING SAVED MY LIFE.

Now, I can honestly say that I love vaping more than I EVER loved cigarettes. Wow ... that's unbelievable for me to even imagine. I can "vape" any flavor I want, and vape any where I want ... it's GREAT! I should do a commercial, huh? Ha,ha.

I tell everyone I can that smokes about ecigs and my experience ... who knows ... maybe it could save their life, too!
