Nicnik that article link worked for me. That was a very good article, in my opinion.

Yeah,it's Sally Satel's best yet. Here's how she ended it:

"The CDC falls squarely in the precautionist camp. It gives disproportionate weight to skeptics’ unsubstantiated claims about e-cigarettes as it minimizes their estimable benefit and foments panic. This is bad for smokers who have tried to quit and can’t, bad for the integrity of public health as a field, and bad for the credibility of the CDC, whose tarring of electronic cigarettes is a shameful violation of public trust. The introduction and technological evolution of electronic cigarettes presents a golden opportunity for the agency to show the public the necessity of weighing tradeoffs. For those who have tried and failed to quit smoking tobacco, the CDC is basically saying, “Drop dead.” Its message to them should instead be “Thank you for vaping.”

The one thing that I don't necessarily agree with is banning diacetyl. Diketones seem to have a huge role in transitioning to vaping, in that they tast incredibly good to many people. I'm not so sure that the evidence is strong enough to outright ban them, but I'm no expert. If the evidence is, or becomes convincing, I'm OK with banning.

here is my response in the comments concerning diacetyl.

concerning diacetyl the flavoring suspected of causing popcorn lung. less than 30 cases have ever been diagnosed as popcorn lung all but one non food industry related. diacetyl is found in cigarette smoke at levels 20 times or more ever found in the highest concentration detected in e-juice. not one case of popcorn lung has ever been diagnosed as the result of smoking.

This quote from a politician is ironic - "I don’t know what gets you to work in the morning except the color green of dollars."

Would some one Please hand this ...... a Mirror! I'm sure it would crack from the mere presents of his reflection. This guy is most likely Owned And Operated by BT, BP Money!
This used to be the land of the free, now it's the land of the rich.

Not just any politician either -- a ROCKEFELLER!!

I subjected myself to watching him say it on video.

http://www.c-span.org/video/?320040-1/ecigarette-marketing

His opening and closing remarks are beyond belief, and so was his behavior in between, which I skimmed through. Very educational, for me.

At the beginning he says, "I should warn you that emotionally I'm on edge on this whole subject", announces it's his birthday, and reveals how emotionally immature he is in the waning days before his retirement, judging and moralizing his way through an apparent massive hangover.

Slide to 1:56:51 if you think you can stomach more, and hear his closing remarks where he exhales these toxic gems:

"I think this whole thing is nothing more than it's all about the money. I think it's uncreative; I think it's nasty; it's like pornography, in my mind"

"I'm ashamed of you. I don't know how you go to sleep at night. I don't know what gets you to work in the morning except the color green of dollars"

"But for you two, you're what's wrong with this country."
