Excessive heat (burning, really) in Provari Mini just under display

Two years smoking e-cigs. Last month I bought a Provari (I had an eVic). Today, suddenly, Provari ceased to work and it burnt my hand. I removed the battery, which was not so hot, and I noticed, the very hot part was in Provari, just under the display. Smell of electrical burning was everywhere.

I tried to clean the Provari and the battery, and, just 2 seconds after inserting the battery in the Provari, the Provari started burning again.

I have another battery but, at this point, I'm not sure about which component is malfunctioning, the Provari or the battery, and I'm reclutant in trying again without asking here first.
Has anyone of you experienced something like this?

Sounds like the board is burnt. if battery was not hot and you smell that burning smell. I do not have a pavari but i have read and seen many cases like this. Good thing is povari stands behind there products and if the board is burnt as long as you are in your warrenty period they will send you a new 1

It sounds like you shorted somewhere, I assume it is the atty and the Provari took the hit. Check your atty on an ohms reader to ensure that is not shorting out, DO NOT use that battery it may be overcharged. Trust your instinct, and if you can return the Provari and rid the battery if your atty is not shorting out because it will either be the Provari or the battery at that point. If you have a voltage meter you can check your battery as well to see if it is overcharged. Good Luck!

I was using a kayfun 3.1, and I'm using it now with no apparent problems my eVic, so i guess it's not him.

Thank you very much. Now I'm at 5 posts, i will follow the thread there, also.

Well, it seems I jumped to the conclusions too soon: to protect the forum from spam a new user needs at least 5 posts (and replies are not counted as posts). So I must follow from here: I don't want to flood the forum with silly and useless questions just to gain a level.

In the next 5 minutes: a user from Italy will try just a few seconds of his burnt Provari with a spare battery. You will know if I'll explode if you don't see new replies :)

gianlucaneri, you have the required post count, however the permissions to post elsewhere won't kick in until the system refreshes at 25 after the hour.

(and replies are posts :) )

There are many ProVari users here that watch and help out in New Members.

Welcome to ECF !
