Well, my package containing unflavored nic juice (100 mg/ml), PG, and VG is waiting for me at the post office and my package of flavoring arriving in today's mail. I should be all set to start experimenting tonight. Can't Wait!!

(Yes, I know to be careful of the nic juice. First thing I will do is dilute it. To 10 ml nic juice, I will add 30 ml VG and 20 ml PG and will end up with (slightly under) 40 PG/60 VG ratio at 16.6 mg/ml nicotine. That's what I'll actually be working with.)

I received the following flavors...

LorAnn Bavarian Cream, English Toffee, Vanilla Butternut, Banana Cream, and Creme de Menthe.

The Flavor Apprentice: Double Chocolate, Cheesecake w/Graham Cracker Crust, Vanilla Cupcake, Caramel Cappucino, Tiramisu

...and some Perique Black from Flavour Art.

(Yeah, I know that last one doesn't really fit in but I've heard of perique tobacco and it sounded interesting.) This is going to be fun!

I can recommend 'one stop diy shop', which I learned about here on this forum. Product arrived quickly and was well packed. And they included some disposable gloves and a couple pipettes as a free gift. (I'm a sucker when stores do that. <grin>) And a hand-written 'Thank you'. Yay! I was soooo excited when I got my first stuff too-sounds like you have some good flavors to work with! Blends containing both the double chocolate and Bavarian cream are among my favorites.

Do remember that when you premix your base, what you end up with after your flavoring is a different PG/VG ratio as well as a slightly lower Nic level. Sounds like you are well-read and prepared though!! Good luck and happy mixing!

Try some Caramel cuppucino and Bavarian Cream It sounds like it would taste really good

then try Double Chocolate, Cheesecake w/Graham Cracker Crust yumm

English Toffee sounds like it would be good all on it's own or in some cuppucino

Boy, this is fun!!!!!!

Sat down last night to make up a couple of recipes (that I found in this forum) and realized I need some better measuring tools. But I wasn't going to let that stop me so I just experimented a bit.

First up, double chocolate and creme de menthe. Used approx. 12% flavoring, split evenly between the two flavors. Delicious!! Much better than anything I've bought, even without steeping.

Bavarian cream and creme de menthe (approx. 12% total flavoring, twice as much Bavarian cream as the creme de menthe). Tastes like a light mint - very good.

Caramel Cappucino at 10% - you're right, it's strong. I don't like it as much as the first two but I'll play around and add something to it.

The perique at 1% (which is the percentage recommended by Flavour Art). Wow - that is something! Totally distinctive flavor, never tasted anything like it. Definitely a special occasion vape. But you need to be careful with it - don't even open the flavoring bottle around other flavors, I swear they all end up tasting like it.

Anyway, I'm enjoying this playing around.

I just want to encourage anyone trying this to have fun with it. It's really not rocket science (except for the nic base. Make sure that's safe.)

So I was lurking on this post earlier and decided to look into that site and noticed the "starter kits" they have. I am definitely interested in starting DIY myself. Would one of those kits be my best bet to start or would it be better to buy stuff piece by piece?

Also which would be better for a first timer? The apprentice or the master kit? For the price it looks like the master is the better deal but if I for some reason hate and or am really bad at DIY it could mean I just have a lot more leftover that I wouldnt use... I dunno.

Let me know guys thanks!

It would depend on the kits, it's contains and the price. Sometimes, kits are good values, sometimes they are not. Also, if the kit has a lot of items for large batches and your one man and planning on making small batches then that may not be a great value for YOU.

You don't need a ton of things to get started with DYI. You could start slow, get some smaller amounts of suppies and a few flavors.

Delute it with fresh base by 50%. That should improve it. Then if it's to weak add a drop at a time until it's what you want. A little sweetner (1 drop at a time) may also be needed. You can also smooth it a bit with sweet cream or baverian cream. But try deluting it first then when you get in the ball park of what you want use the sweetner and cream to fine tune it.

One question are you making 5ml test batches. If not then instead of drops go with persentages (1% at a time) or base it on 1 drop per 5 ml will = 1%.

A coffee mix is going to be my first mix when I get my flavors in.

Good idea about diluting the Caramel Cappucino. I'll try that, then maybe add something else (maybe butter toffee or bavarian cream). Don't get me wrong - I'd use it as it but I think it can be improved.

I work in small quantities, mainly because I'm a low-volume vaper (maybe 1 ml/day). And I'm lucky that I'm not trying to match another flavor. As long as what I come up with tastes good, I'm happy.

Also need more little bottles. LOTS of little bottles. And tiny syringes.

Small syringes and lots of 5 ml bottles are important for experimentation. When it comes time to make a serious batch then a few 30ml - 120 glass bottles should be on hand. But understanding percentages and measuring my ML instead of drops is very important expecially if you intent to duplicate a favorate vape you've just figured out. And please, please, please keep good notes on what your doing. It's the worst feeling in the world to discover that amazing vape and not being able to reproduce it.
