Has anyone else noticed an increase in dreams (or an increase in being able to remember dreams) since vaping?

I have been analogue free for a couple of weeks now and the past few days I have been getting some really vivid dreams that stick with me all day. They're not even weird dreams, things like being sat in the car or out shopping.

It's been happening since I have been able to get great throat kicks from my own USB PT and a new 901, not sure if PG has any psychoactive properties or if the lack of carcinogens or impurities absorbed by my lungs has anything to do with it but, it's like I'm in an episode of Medium or the X files!

I don't mind so much but some of them are so vivid that it's hard to remember if something I did yesterday was real or I just dreamed about it.

btw.. I don't drink alcohol and left recreational drugs behind quite some time ago

I haven't experienced that, but I do remember reading a thread where the person loves high nic liquid at night because of the dream factors. Maybe Nicotine causes vivid dreams? Just guessing, but that was the jist of the thread, wish I could post a link but it was quite a while back. Maybe try using low or no nic liquids in the evening and see if that helps? Good luck!

I think I'll keep to the high nic and keep the dreams. They're quite insightful if I analyse them enough (even sitting in the car ones!)

I see the lucid dreams induced by nicotine to be a positive of vaping :).

me too!

It couldhave something to do with the lack of other chemicals found in cigarette smoke? Some of them are profoundly neuroactive (eg, harmine is a monoamine oxidase inhibitor).

That was my original thought, maybe a drop in carbon monoxide allowing my subconscious to work as normal instead of being in a permanent state of mild asphyxiation?

thanks for the replies!

I've began these vivid dreams for several years when ramping up the analog habit, and now they are still there, maybe even more prominent, I vape zero nic, just flavor. I probably had far worse terror dreams while on analogs than I do now, but it would be simply wonderful to get rid of all of them! A night's sleep with waking to daylight and no dreams would be a real gift for me.

Point is though, even being zero nic still give dreams all during the night, so there is that possibility that something in the e-cig base liquid, could be causing some part of them. I'd like to hope that the brain is just readjusting and the dreams will subside. So far, I can count on dreams each time I sleep, and it makes for a weary, unrestfull sleep! SB

I have noticed it makes me a bit more tired during the day if I have a lot of vivid dreams, especially if I'm having the 'hum-drum normal life' type of dreams like going shopping or, if you can believe it, writing a really long letter.

I'd rather have dreams than not though, closing my eyes at night and then opening them in the morning without feeling any kind of passage of time freaks me out (and kind of makes me feel like an abduction victim!)

I'm no expert but I believe dreams are good and represent healthy sleep. I'd include a link to wikipedia but I can't since I haven't posted enough. just google dreaming

I've done a fair bit of reading on dreams because of the weirdness of my younger day dreams but that was only on the subject and methods of dreams, not the cause. Guess I'll have to research some more

This is a VERY commonly reported side effect. Search the "health and ...." threads for side effects and you will find one that has 400 or so replies. It takes a few hours to read them all, but there are dozens of "vivid dreams" reports, along with some other "not so desirable" -but- fleeting symptoms that could/might/do occur to a varying degree to almost everyone.
Yeah, I had (and still do on occasion) the "vivid dream" thing too.

Your fatigue is probably a result of being mentally active during REM sleep. Nicotine IS a lucid dream inducer - probably becase it raises dopamine levels. These changes in your brain are mostly permanent which is why the dream effects may last a while - but then again most people do experience lucid dreams naturally at one time or another and some people can achieve them without drugs through mental training. Search wikipedia for articles about it. I think that most people view the brain in a wrong manner - it isn't a neat machine - it's a sloppy combination of brain matter that can easily go out of whack naturally or because of drugs or stress. If you've ever dissected an animal brain, you'll see what I mean (I even had the chance to operate on a live mouse brain which we sutured up in class and lived after - the brain is very messy indeed). This explains why drugs can have profound effects and why people have such different personalities, behaviors, and reactions to drugs.

Wow, I been vapeing about month now and had one of the best dreams in my life last week and didn't even make the connection between it and vapeing. If their is one, I like it and hope for many more. I'd go into paticulars if this was an X rated forum. It was that good and continued
after wakeing if you know what I mean.

Vivid dreams are a side effect of nicotine/nicotine replacement drugs. I've tried everything to quit from gum to Chantix. I know when I wore patches all night I would have extremely vivid dreams (why they suggest you take them off for sleep). Also, on Chantix (which the drug clings to the same receptors in your brain as nicotine does) I had the same kind of freaky vivid dreams I had using the patch.
You might be overdoing it a little before bed.

I've actually started taking a few heavy puffs on a new cart before I go to sleep! I've had some really awesome dreams this week and a few of them have (after some self analysis) even provided some answers to questions I didn't know I had asked.

Still haven't predicted the lottery but I did dream I won a quarter million on a scratch card! I bought two the next day but won bugger all

About 3-4 days into vaping and smoking I started having weird nightmarish dreams. Also was loosing a lot of sleep because I was having a few probs getting to sleep and waking up early!! Not for me early mornings!!

It went away after a week or so and for me, it was exactly the same experience as when I tried the 24hr patches.
