Hi All!

Another question from a noob, as I searched ECF and couldn't find the answer. I purchased two bottles of juice when I got my initial kit, thinking that I would like the tobacco flavor. Of course, I received a sampler set and love the fruit and coffee flavors better:pAnywho, back to my question. One of the bottles has an expiration date of 01/27/2013. I just ordered these in November of 2012 (and accidentally spilled half the bottle because I didn't get the lid on tight) and wondered if I need to get rid of the rest of the bottle if I don't use it by this date?

TIA!

The first ingredient to go in e-liquid is the Glycerin USP (VG). Once exposed to open air (like during mixing) it should be used within one year.

Depending on how it was packaged you will find expiration dates on Propylene glycol USP (PG) or VG between one to two years. If your juice only had a couple of months left before the expiration date then it wasn't very fresh when sent to you.

The choice of using juice that is past expiration date is up to you. Chances are it won't hurt you at all if a little past the expiration date but the taste is likely to be sub-par. Personally, I toss juice that is past expiration date.

ehh well. Does your bottle have a "birth date?" I would hate for you to just throw away a juice. I DIY my own juices and they are gone before I even have to think about expiration. I only put a "birth date" on the bottles.

Look at the juice, if it is dark that means it is old and the nic has oxidized quite a bit.
(not 100% fool proof, any vanillas would also darken a juice and that has nothing to do with age)

but if your juice is something like.. "strawberry sunshine" and the jucie itself is dark I would definately pitch it.

If it tastes good, vape it. Oxidized Nic won't harm you.

Ohh if you order from this vendor again, ask them to put a date on the bottle of the date it was MIXED.

No birth date on the bottle and it is Virginia Tobacco flavor. I got that flavor because I used to smoke Virginia Slims 120's and thought it would be the closest "taste". The other flavor I bought is Cloves Tobacco flavor and the expiration date on that is 1/10/2014. That's why I was concerned. The Clove flavor is much darker than the Virginia.

Many factors can affect juice color. You will find that with the tobacco flavors and especially with fruity/coffee/clove etc. that the colors will vary. Even juice colors of the same flavors from company to company will differ. Other factors such as steep time, light exposure etc. will also alter color.

From the fact that the clove has an expiration date of over a year from now, I'd say the Virginia was probably just old. Sometimes, vendors will have old stock and don't necessarily realize it (or notice it). What they should do is either sell it at a discount or toss it out themselves rather than sending out bottles that are only "good" for a few months. I'd check them when you get them in from now on and don't accept anything with less than 9 months of life left. Alternatively, get your juice from another vendor that mixes it to order; then you know it's fresh.

Or it was mislabeled since the year was changing. Human error is always possible. But, like I said, my VG has an expiry of 06/17, which is more like five years versus the one year mentioned above.

It's fine. If you like it, vape it. If you don't, toss it. 15 mls won't even last me a week, so I am sure it will go fast once you put it in your mod and vape it :vapor:
