Hello again all,
The folks that first recommended vaping to me suggested that I purchase "pure glycerin" from my local pharmacy chain and add a drop to each carto when filling/refilling it. They told me it would add a lot of vapor. I have not seen this mentioned in any of the forums or threads I have read since joining ECF. Any opinions on this practice?
Thanks for the info.
Dave

Where you least expect it....
Welcome to our forum. It's unnecessary to add "pure glycerin" to your cartomizer when filling/refilling. USP grade Vegetable Glycerin (VG) is one of the components of e-liquid. Yet, you do not need it unless you plan on making your own e-liquid. Or to thin down a pre-mixed e-liquid that you have bought.

I would like to refer you to these helpful threads for a better understanding of vaping.

Yes and no.

Glycerin increases vapor volume, decreases to an extent the throat hit, and may reduce some flavors. Most vapers prefer some form of PG/VG mix, and a lot vape VG only juices as well. Most feel that PG-only juices feel too 'harsh'.

Adding the drop to a carto (assuming it's a regular 1ml carto) would theoretically give you a ~95/5 PG/VG mix which is probably not all that different from 100% PG. A good mix for getting more vapor due to glycerin's effects is 75/25 and above.

Adding the drop into the carto, assuming you are talking about filler type cartos will not mix your glycerin in the liquid. IF you are using a clearo or other filler-less attachment, there will be some mixing, but usually we need to shake the hell out of a bottle of juice to ensure proper mixing so...

Try either buying PG/VG juices ready-made, or actually mix glycerin into the juice. Be aware that the latter will obviously decrease flavor and nicotine content as you do so.

Over the edge...
vidoedave, adding a drop or even several drops to a carto will not make an appreciable difference. You might notice a difference with an 80/20% PG/VG mix. But with pure VG as mentioned before, you will have a lot less flavor and throat hit. I agree with elfstone, order some premixed PG/VG juices and you'll probably like the result.
