I bought a mini protank (static tip). I like it. When I got it I put everything together, filled it up, and vaped away. I have been using it a few days and have not had any problems with it. Today I decided I would rinse off my coil and clean it up a bit. I noticed that there is an "extra" ring above where the wick is. It is my understanding the heads are interchangeable with EVODs and none of my EVODs have this extra ring. Can anyone tell me what this is? Is it needed?

I am attempting to upload a photo. Hopefully it works. I have separated the two to make it visible.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I was one of those 30 views but it isn't easy to see from the picture. It looks like you're referring to the ring (? if that is one ?) below the cup on the chimney... and above the wick ends. To me it looks like an assembly faux pas, but since I don't know, I didn't say. You only got one head with the tank? I don't own a mini.... but I do have the PT2 and the Kanger heads I have seen have no such extra ring.

If it were me I would probably remove it and try the tank without it to see if it performs the same... then hang on to the ring in my "parts" glass. :D

Trayce,

Thanks so much for the reply. Sorry about the photo. That was about the best I could get given the light. I am referring to the ring. There is the normal silicon ring that is on all EVOD coild (and the T3s I have) but then there is thin little "o" ring that was settled underneath the "normal" silicon ring. It looks like it was actually smashing down on top of the wicks.

And you had a great idea that I did not even think of! You are right, it came with two coils. I just checked the replacement coil and it does not have the extra "o" ring. I guess it was just a manufacturing mistake?

I havent used the mini since I posted this thread. So at this point I guess I will remove it and see what happens.

Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate it.

You are very welcome, and yes, these things are hand-assembled in China, so it's maybe kind of amazing there aren't more of those mistakes. But I'd hang on to it... never know when it might come in handy if you lose an o-ring or break one. :)

That's what I am thinking. I was getting great production out of it without [insert: think you meant with] this little ring crammed on top of the wicks. I am excited to get home and see what happens when I get to try it without!

And if you don't like it you can always put it back. :D Let us know... you might start a trend... everyone will be putting an extra o-ring on their heads.
