Extracting flavor

I have read about people extracting vanilla by soaking it in pg. I am on a mission to make the best eliquid I possibly can. Who isn't right? Anyone having success extracting your own flavors? Also any ideas of how to get trueer lass chemical flavors into our eliquid?
