Failed eGo hardware registry?

Would it be out of line to keep a running list of all the eGo batteries and chargers that have been reported as failing in one way or another? I know the information in such a list would only be as good as the ones providing information, but with all the recent threads about exploding eGos and such, I would think it might be helpful to find a common part/trend/manufacturer/retailer/etc in an effort to identify possibly dangerous models or charger combinations. I don't know if listing the vendors would be in bad form, but I feel this information could potentially be helpful and might save some kitchen counters, desks, floors, or maybe even houses.

To be fair, from what I've read of the posts from the past few days, the fails have been from chargers that were not originally supplied with the batteries that have failed, if the ratings and output are not correct there is the chance they are going to fail.

Rather than cause more undue commotion to an already tense situation, check your equipment. If it is giving you any undue cause for alarm because you can't confirm where each piece came (maybe you picked up a batt here and charger there) or it's starting to act suspiciously, or you didn't buy a complete kit from a supplier, then get rid of it.

I know it's easy to say I can't afford a new kit, but there are plenty of forum suppliers with very reasonable kits, most have spent more on a carton of analogs.

I consider myself fortunate to have purchased many kits from suppliers over the past year and a half and not have had any problems with the supplied chargers, jmtc

I agree 100% with what you say regarding checking your equipment and stop using equipment that is acting "funky", no argument there. However, I believe the notion of "use only the charger that was supplied with your kit" may be a little unreasonable since I think its a common thing to pick up a spare charger that may not have been bundled with the original kit. As always, check with your supplier to make sure its compatible with your equipment should be the rule. As an example I buy my secondary chargers from the place I purchased my original, and of course double checked with the vendor to make sure it was the proper model. Ratings should be the proper indicator in charger/battery combos but in some of those explosion instances, it seems like the proper rated charger was being used. If the output ratings are listed as equal, how is one to know that there may be some other differences assuming they are listed as eGo charger with "X" output. My intention is not to cause more commotion and paranoia, but perhaps identify some low quality chargers and batteries that look like the rest, but are not.
