Hi all:

After reverting to analogs for most of last year, I'm using the eGo again. I purchased it from Wordup when it was first on the market, and visiting back here, it seems like there have been a lot of improvements made. I have searched through most of the forum and gleaned some information, but it doesn't appear that there is an eGo FAQ per se (if there is, please direct me and I'll check it out!), so was hoping you could answer some questions:

1. Is the battery quality with the XLs any better? Are they fully compatible with the old wall charger? I find the battery run time fine on the ones I have, but have experienced some worrying problems with charging them--they both just died, on the same day. I cleaned them as per recs here, and so far so good, but have seen polls etc. that lead me to be concerned that there might be larger problems. Are there? Couldn't find any recall info or anything, so...

2. Is there a consensus on whether the wall charger in fact has a defect, or is it just an issue of cleaning that is resolved (see item 1 above)? If it is NOT just a cleaning issue, would I be better off getting a USB, or is there a new model wall charger that is better (don't need speed, just reliability)? I'm not asserting that there are, just wanted to see what consensus says.

3. There are these new atomizers/cartomizers etc. Can anyone explain the benefits of them? I see that the general notion is a cartomizer is two in one, and that the larger size means longer vaping w/o refilling with liquid. Is that it? Any downsides?

4. Dripping: I am happy to see that there is now a drip tip, and would love to use it. However, when I was using it to drip on the atomizer that came in the original set, kept on getting it gummed up: had to blow it clean, etc. Does the drip tip help prevent this? I also think I saw that there are now atomizers designed specifically for dripping, to prevent this from happening. Can anyone give me the exact name of these?

5. Retailers: any that are well known to specialize in eGos or have low prices/free shipping? If not, I'll just surf and try to find some that are promising. After some problems with Wordup (e.g., oral reassurances made but then reneged on), I'm afraid I'm just not willing to go there again.

I know this is a lot but if anyone can provide any answers to any one or all of the above, it would be a real help. Promise that if I move from newbie to expert status at any point, will personally author a FAQ :)

Thanks all.

The wall charger - not the USB bit - is notorious for not being the most reliable part of an eGo, at least the European ones. Don't think the US are necessarily better. You can easily replace that with any wall-to-USB adapter for MP3 players or the like. Just make sure it at least has an output of 500mAh.
The batteries haven't changed much - there are larger ones now, and the new ones for the eGo-T can be switched off completely, but basically, it's still the same battery, compatible with the old chargers and all atties.

Regarding atties and cartomizers, you will find tons of opinions on that matter, as well as many different atties and cartos these days. Just give them a try, since each has a different taste and different handling.

If your atty gummed up with dripping, that was probably a liquid that was, shall we say, less than ideal in general. There are drip tips for each and every atty out there (well, almost), you need of course one that fits, but the rest again is a matter of taste. I can't help you with US shops, but in China Health Cabin has a lot of different ones.

If you want to get a good price on an eGo check out safetecigarette.com or heaven-gifts.com - they seem to have the best prices for eGos, as well as for accessories and liquid. The only downside of using these sites is the shipping time since they come from China where the manufacturers are; but if you can wait 10 days or so then it's worth it.

I wouldn't say battery quality is any better, just longer on runtime. Yes they are compatible with your charger. What do you mean by died? Light on battery flash? If so, just an indication that it needs charged. If not, please clarify. There was a problem awhile back with the chargers shorting out the batteries but that has been resolved. No recall, just on a complaint to vendor.

Definitely cleaning battery threads before chargins is always necessary so that there is good contact. Most eGo kits come with USB/wall chargers now. I only know of one type.

3. There are these new atomizers/cartomizers etc. Can anyone explain the benefits of them? I see that the general notion is a cartomizer is two in one, and that the larger size means longer vaping w/o refilling with liquid. Is that it? Any downsides?

Benefits of cartomizers, less topping off. These are great if you travel and/or drive to work or are in an insituation constantly where refilling would be a pain. Basically, fill up the night before, and you're ready to go for the next day. They are nice and convient but a bit of a hassle to fill but not a problem if you don't mind doing it. Pop off the mouth piece, drip down the side/use condom method/or a syringe to fill.

eGo XL cartomizers are a little bit bigger of a pain to fill but worth it IMO. You need a syringe or you can drip through the battery end to fill. Not really cost efficient and only last 2-3 refills. I have a couple that have lasted longer but there is not way to clean these so they loose firing ability quickly.

If you had to constantly blow out your atomizer, you were over dripping. 2-3 drops is all you need for 7-8 mouthfuls of vapor. Don't drip more until you start to notice a dropoff in flavor. Drip tips do not prevent this.

306 atomizer is the "dripper" atty. They also make these in low resistance which again I highly don't recomment on an eGo. They will work but greatly shorten the lifespan of your battery.

5. Retailers: any that are well known to specialize in eGos or have low prices/free shipping? If not, I'll just surf and try to find some that are promising. After some problems with Wordup (e.g., oral reassurances made but then reneged on), I'm afraid I'm just not willing to go there again.

Liberty-Flights have the best deals and $2.99 shipping. They have a discount tab at the top of their page for 20 percent off. They also warranty their kits. CLICK HERE.

I know this is a lot but if anyone can provide any answers to any one or all of the above, it would be a real help. Promise that if I move from newbie to expert status at any point, will personally author a FAQ :)

Thanks all.

If you need anything else, please ask. I'm sure other people will also give you some good recommendations.
