Hello all,

I've been searching for the right mod for me for 6 months now. There are a lot of options to consider. I just have one question about the Chuck.

What kind of failure rate do these have? I've heard the warranty is the best in the business, but I hate sending stuff back for repairs.

I can only afford 1 mod at this time, so I want to make sure this is a reliable mod before I commit to ordering one. I know many of y'all probably own 2 or more, but is that because the switch goes out all the time and you need to send one back and have another as a backup?

Also, I'm going to be using V4L cartomizers, so will I need to get an adapter or is this already compatible?

Any help in this is much appreciated, and I hope to be able to order in the next few days.

Thanks,
Darrigaaz

After about 4 months I was having problems getting the atomizers to screw in. Sent it back to Jeff and he put in a new connector. The connector is one of the parts none of the mod-makers make themselves so getting a lemon could happen with any mod. (I gather in a year mine was only the 3rd or 4th on a Chuck to have this problem.)

I've dropped it a couple of times and knocked it over on a table with some regularity (including having it land on it's button) and have had no problems as a result.

I have no doubt at all that I bought the right mod.

I have 3 Chucks, two big ones, one little ..... and no, didn't get multiples because I was afraid one would fail ... got them because I love them !! I've had them about 6 months now ... no issues at all. I highly recommend The Chuck ..........

Can't help ya with the carto question, don't use them ... I much prefer dripping :)

While I have had a button replaced, I am in second place as the clumsiest member of the community (hi, WACG!). Turnaround was less that a week (during which I used my backup) and I've had no problems in the months since.

Regarding the carto compatibility, Jeff's 510 to 901 adapter works perfectly with V4Ls and every other 808 cartomizer I've thrown at it. Some with the 510 to 801 adapter with atties & cartos.

In addition, you'll have a one-of-a-kind PV that you designed yourself!

Enjoy your new Chuck!

As far as the cartomizer, check out the Ordering page at Thag Built's website. You can order your Chuck for any of the following atomizers
510
901
901/808
801
401

If you order a 510, Jeff has adapters for those as well. For $5, you get a 510-901/808 and a 510-801. (Other connectors are available from many of the suppliers at ECF.)

I had a little chuck. It works great & lasts long. In fact, I don't think I ever had to charge a dead battery, I just charged at the end of the day.

I ended up selling it because it's seriously, for me, not something I can go out in public with. It looks too much like paraphenlia. I've had several mods & always go back to v4l batteries.

This is all just me, I know it's different for many people.

I have 2 big and 1 little Chuck. The first one I got was the big Chuck. I've had that now for about 8 months and never had a problem with it. It's my main one that leaves the house with me everyday and has been dropped a number of times on concrete floors. The worst I can say about it is that after all the abuse, the end caps have a little paint that's come off of them. The tube still looks almost as it did the day I got it.

I've had my little chuck for 9 months now and I have had my switch die on me 1 time. I've dropped my chuck several times but this time it happened to land straight on the switch in the driveway. Ouch! I was planning to send it in for repair and get by on my 901 but my darling hubby made a trip to Fry's bought the same switch and changed it out for me. He said it was pretty simple. Other than that it's been 100 percent reliable. So as long as you don't chuck your Chuck down the driveway you should be good to go.

Absolutely no regrets. It's easy to use, the full size chuck gives you a few vaping options. No troubles with mine, occassionally the switch feels a little stubborn but that problem never lasts long.
If you are using V4L, I highly recommend going with the 510 and just using the adapter because you'll have all of your options open for you. Including 510 cartos which really are great.

I have pondered in the past but don't really see myself using another mod.

A KR808 has the same threading as a 901. It's just the airholes that are different. So, if you want to get the 808 connector and occasionally use other atomizers, you should be able to use 901 adapters. You just can't get them from Jeff.
Mad Vapes has adapters for 901 batteries as does Clouds of Vapor, Nhaler, Altsmoke, Good Prophets, etc. Mad Vapes and Good Prophets are the cheapest in the states. (Heaven-Gifts is cheaper, but not when you include shipping.)

I have a chuck, and I've had a lot of problems with the switch since about day 6 til now. I guess I've had mine for almost 2 months now. I don't want to send it in because I'll be stuck with a crappy backup, but I know I'm gonna need to send it in at some point.. bleh.

EDIT: Another problem that I've seen discussed quite a bit (and it HAS happened to me) is that if you drop it, the atomizer connector seems to get crooked and your atomizer sits at an angle for the rest of time, unless you send it in for Jeff to fix. That's really bothered me about my chuck. I don't know why it happens, maybe when Jeff sends them to us the glue hasn't fully dried or something... but I haven't been able to push it back into place.

Other than that... when it works, it's a damn workhorse. Will blow your head off! But let's put it this way, I wouldn't take my Chuck if I had to pick a mod to take on a deserted island... it's not reliable enough for that (in terms of the switch) mine isn't at least...

Xanax, I'd suck it up with the back up for what, five six days, send it back in for a looksey. You are gonna drive yourself bonkers if you don't. Dropped mine today, it the concrete floor, cussed, picked it up and it works great. Found my little chuck in the yard after it was out in the mud, rain and heat for over a week, took it apart, cleaned it up and it works just dandy.

It may not be indestructible (dang close though) but I like knowing that should I kill it, Jeff will take care of it for me and make it top priority. I just don't think anyone can say that about any other mod out there. I toke mine in public all the time, doesn't bother me one bit and......well I could go on all day about how great this thing is, I really could.

Amy- I know I really really should send it in... I'm so stubborn when it comes to that... I can't part with it!!! Ahhhhh I feel like I'm sending my child off to school for the first time... (I don't have kids so I don't know what that feels like but I feel like it might be similar... lol) And yes what you said about it being almost indestructable is true and I'm REALLY glad that Jeff is always there when and if I decide to send it in. Well, I know for sure that if it does actually die I will send it in. There's no way I'm gonna settle for less permanently if it dies. It's the most reliable mod I've had so far honestly. You know, this thing would be the superman of e-cigs if the switch were more durable. It's like batman dragging robin around... Robin isn't as powerful as batman but they make a decent team, it's just Robin is the weak link of the indestructable duo.

Here's Crash's take on the warranty. Of course, she's not official. If you're worried about it, check with Jeff.

And sending him stuff is a breeze. My connector broke (I like to be different -- anyone can break the button.) Sent it to him with $7 for postage and it was back in my hands in a week. Since buying the part to do it yourself would cost a couple of bucks, it's quite a bargain.

his warranty is like no other..you can say Jeff, I was drunk in a bar fight, hit a guy in the head w my Chuck trhen threw it and it broke. Hell say...send it in, ill fix ya up...not many ppl would accept that into thier "warranty"...
