hello everyone.
i'm fairly new to all this (a little over a month now) and i only have one set up. just a plain ego 650mah ego spinner and 4 aspire bdc tanks (two mini vivi novas, one et-s and one of the plastic ones)
i'm glad i got them because when they work, they work really well. never any gurgling, leaking, etc. but when they don't work: poor to no taste, poor vapor production, etc.
and i think i may have found at least one problem.
i noticed that on the coil head itself they all have numbers on them but some of them have "aspire" written on them and some don't. the ones that do not say aspire on them suck.
i just naively thought that a vendor would sell me what they said they would. (of course it could also just be their suppliers - one even was not only not aspire but it was the wrong resistance) so of all 4 of my tanks only one had a true aspire coil head in it.
i now have switched them all out and have the real coil heads on all of them and they work and taste great
so, if any of you decide to buy one of these tanks, just know if it sucks, it might be because it has a fake coil head on it.
i also recommend if you buy replacement heads you make sure it comes in the 5 pack blister pack in the aspire box
hope this helps some people
:)

If the heads do not say Aspire, they are not fake.
They are Generic replacements.

Wording may be as simple as - x.xohm heads FOR Aspire......
Or - Original replacement Aspire heads

See the difference?

ok, probably bad wording but that doesn't take away from the fact that they don't work properly and if you buy an "aspire bdc" tank you should reasonably assume you're going to get an "aspire bdc" coil in it. it's the working part after all.

Be glad your tanks Match the originals. If they came with Non- aspire heads, they are non- aspire tanks....... Unless you have found the crookedest reseller around. Tanks come Pre-assembled from Aspire with 1 coil installed.

just my luck.
oh well, live and learn like they say.
i'm out a few bucks, but at least i no longer smell like an ashtray. :)
thanks for the info!

I have boxes of both 2.1's and 1.8's. All 2.1's have 'aspire' on them and 1.8's do not. I got all boxes from the same vendor. Anyone else notice this?

do the ones without the aspire written on them vape ok?

i wrote to the vendor to let them know about it, they pretty much just said something like "sorry your coil head was unsatisfactory". it wasn't "unsatisfactory" it was not what i paid for. but oh well. won't be ordering from them again.

Havent used many of them yet as I just got them because I was having problems with the 1.8's. So far so good though.

Are the ones with Aspire on them that you have 1.8 or 2.1?

ouzel, if they come with both 1.8 and 2.1ohms heads you may need to up the voltage a bit to compensate. Have you tried this?

all the ones i've had have been 1.8 (except for the one that was 1.6 - which was supposed to be 1.8) and i did mess around with the voltage for a while but have pretty much stayed right around 3.7 volts because nearly everything above that tastes a bit off.
i'm pretty new to all this so i'm not really sure what you mean by compensate, unless you mean that if i switch between 1.8 and 2.1 i would need to up the volts for the 2.1? which, if that is what you mean, well, i don't have any 2.1's ..all 1.8.

glad to hear yours are doing fine even if they don't have aspire on them.
maybe i need to mess with the voltage on the "generic" ones and they'll be fine.

what is the difference by the way? does one just require less voltage? or is there supposed to be a difference in taste and/or vapor between different ohms?

Hmmm so my 1.8's are generic and your 1.8's are generic too? Anyone else have some of these heads and want to check for us? Like I said earlier, the 2.1's that I have say 'Aspire" on them. Interested to see if anyone has 1.8's that say 'Aspire' on them.

no i think you misunderstood me. i do only have 1.8's but not all are generic.
the ones i got in a blister pack - all aspire.
three of the ones i got pre-assembled in my aspire tanks were not aspire - only one

also, before i realized any of this, i cleaned a few - by letting them soak overnight in a dilute vinegar wash. about 1 part vinegar to about 200 parts water and the "generic" coils tarnished. the aspire ones didn't.
not going to use those anymore.
just so you know.
