Considering Sony is getting out of the battery business.....

It appears your batteries were removed from a battery pack. This is a bad practice and not one that's recommended. Always buy from a reputable company, not Amazon or Fleabay.

Apparently, Sony is printing the battery pack warning on all their batteries. My VTC6's have the same "Do not use outside of battery pack" message printed on the metal cell casing that you can read through the wrap. They came from RTDVapor.

But they are authentic vtc4?
They look genuine to me.
double top rings,
proper reveal on the insulator
no seams visible from your photos.

Do a bit more googling if you are undecided.
However, with batteries, when in doubt, toss it out.
What is $5 compared to peace of mind?
Please purchase batteries from trusted vendors. As noted by @retired1, Amazon/'bay are not recommended.

cheers

Sony make 18650s for battery packs, not for vaping. They issued an official statement some time ago to this effect to distance themselves legally from the way we use them.
Mooch tested genuine VTC4s March last year with the same warning on them
Sony VTC4 2000mAh "use only in packs" 18650 Test Results...identical to other genuine VTC4's
Buying batteries from Amazon and Ebay is generally a terrible idea, and definitively identifying fakes can be very tricky. Best bet is to get them from a reputable vendor and if in doubt recycle them.
