about a month ago I ordered an iTaste vv 3.0 from fast tech. My wife likes it a lot. My buddy ordered one from a different vendor. His feels twice as heavy, made of metal, buttons feel rock solid.

My wifes, made of plastic, light as a feather, buttons have a bit of play and click to them. Felt cheap from day one.

So is fast tech just a Chinese knock off site?

All iTaste models on FT are listed as "metal" as the main component. So don't know if they're wrong or whats going on there.

There's a discussion about this that already took place on the FT boards:

https://www.fasttech.com/forums/1383905/t/1007932/genuine

From that thread, when directly questioned, FT staff had this response:

geek:

Some products don't have their brand written in their name so that the factories aren't as ...... (by the low prices).

If you are worried, open a ticket before you order and we'll provide written answers (as guarantees).

Given that response and the replys by iTaste owners in that thread, everything points to them being genuine.

Can you link the exact FT kit you bought?

Here is the exact kit, One other thing that I can not compare to my friends are the iClear's that my kit came with. Out of the box one was DOA, the other four worked. To date only one is in working condition. The rest have fallen apart one way or another. The metal ring on the drip tip will stay screwed into the tank and then the drip tip is loose and falls out, the tank on one came cross threaded and now after repeated use leaks, on the last non working iclear the center post is tilted and the drip tip doesnt make a good seal on it so that one leaks.

i sent an email to innokin asking them if fast tech is selling gen. iTaste vv's. I also asked them for the weight of the iTaste VV.

-------
Okay I got home first thing I did was look at the iTaste, and it feels like plastic, although it could be metal, the very thinnest of its kind that has a very odd plastic like paint on it. I tried looking at all edges for a paint imperfection and could not see one. So it could be plastic.... ill do a scratch test at some point. As of now its working and that is all she cares about.
In the mean time I will look for a back up cause this doesnt look like it will make it.

Is there a small form factor VV out there that isnt disposable?

The battery/iTaste itself isnt considered "disposable", just the i16 clearomizers. Many will use them till they have performance issues then pitch them, others will take the time to clean/dry burn and reuse them several times.

Innokin is going to reply back that they're fake. See above mentioned quote from FT staff.

This has been discussed quite a bit on ECF, FT is likely using 'shell companies' to get around manufacturers price fixing, by buying product with one company then 're-selling' it to themselves (ie FT).

This way FT doesnt have to adhere to the MSRP price fixing that is going on in the industry, but it pisses the manufacturers off quite a bit.
