Couldn't tell from the description if this is the latest version or not. EVic's are great, but thus far, not very durable. I've lost two to death by granite counter top. What happens is when it lands wrong with a strong topper like an MT3, or something, the metal press fit head pops off the plastic housing and can (in my case did) pull out the lead connections to the battery. I'm not a solder kind of guy unfortunately. Since it happened twice (second time before I could super glue it down), it's clearly a design flaw, and I'm not going to get another one until they fix this problem. I do understand that a new eVic will have two set screws in the top to keep it from popping off. I've seen these sold out on certain websites. BTW, for the price, it's a pretty good deal. However, I think you're going to see this price at many places when the new ones come out. Seems like I've seen prices near this point recently while surfing. While I'm no longer a big eVic fan for the reasons mentioned, it was my favorite PV (I'm speaking about software version 1.2 or higher) due to its excellent display and ease of use. The computer interface is great and you can set your
device from your computer. The fact that the eVic remembers ALL your settings during battery changes is also great, and rare in APV's. With short and long tubes now, it's pretty flexible, colors are available, so you can make it into the
device you prefer. If
fastech sold a NEW eVic head only for about $50, I'd buy it instantly. I don't need another kit. BTW, the wife is taking my two dead eVic's to a small parts electronic repair place this week for my Father's day gift

D). Looking forward to that. I'll probably immediately super glue the tops down now. So what if I can't open the top after that, why would I need to? Best of luck to you!
