Thanks for the tip. I like Tribeca, though it usually gets too sweet for my taste rather quickly. I am tending toward crisp and spicy, I suppose. I started the thread hoping for some greatest hits that other folks like. Since I'm just a month in, Im still experimenting. Bought way too many vendor juices that don't cut it, and figured I could experiment with tiny batches, while developing my taste.

Juices I'd like to clone:

Grey Matter
Midnight Apple
Turkish tobacco

I'll look it up, but what does acetyl pyrazine do for a recipe?

AP kind of adds a nutty/bready tone, hard to describe really. It sounds like tobacco s seem to be your what your looking for. I made a sample last week that was 2.5% tpa dk type tobacco and 3% seedmans captain black. It had a wonderful strong pipe tobacco taste when it was fresh but it seems to be fading away as it steeps, so not a final recipe but it might be worth playing with. I recommend just looking around this sub forum and the recipe forum to get an idea of what flavorings others are using and order some small sample sizes to try out. Tobaccos are harder to perfect than other recipes but you can get some nice complex flavors by mixing different concentrates. there are a lot of great recipes on here already, it just takes a little bit of searching and then trial and error to learn your flavor profile.

Thanks. Since Good Prophets is running a half price sale through Feb., I figured this was the time to jump into DIY. I just got a RY4 Double, but was unsure of what other concentrate is most important to add to the "pantry". I prefer strong spicy tobacco flavor, but not ashy. Halo's Turkish is my favorite so far. Got the Ry4 primarily for friends that prefer a sweeter tape.

Since most of my e-juice "fails" have been tobacco flavors, I figured it was a tough nut to crack; even for veteran juiceologists.

Was wondering if DIYers have had any luck doctoring premixed e-liquids that they don't like. I've gotten quite a few supposed tobaccos that have the exact same perfumey taste. Want to avoid that particular flavoring, if I can. It's in all the tobacco flavors I've gotten from DV and MBV, but not in the Casino 21 I got from MEL (though that one's too ashy for me).

if you like the turkish type...i suggest desert ship...ecig express makes a concentrate that i've used at 1.5%...from there you can add a bit of fruit or vanilla or chocolate....

it's pretty good on its own but try this and let me know what you think

1.5% desert ship (ecig express brand)
5% chocolate (tfa)
2% vanillin diluted in pg (tfa)
1% bavarian cream (tfa)

I did just pick up a bottle of the GP Turkish to try out,i literally just mixed it a few minutes ago so i can'tcomment too much on it but it seems promising. The concentrate has a VERY floral smell to it but i didn't pick that up in the taste, i settled on 7% flavoring so we'll see what i think next week. I don't know if they're open right now but i get most of my flavors from wizard labs some of my staple tobacco and tobacco mix in flavors are commercial tobacco, captain black, dk 555, double ry4, vanilla bourbon, caramel, Bavarian creme, raisin, honey,AP, tobacco absolute blend... If you're not sure on a blend let it sit for a week or two then try it again, they really change over time.
