Who could not love the mother (Ruth Fisher) in Six Feet Under. What a character.

You are so right...Six Feet Under is my all-time favorite series. Character development beyond compare -- I loved each and every one of them. The final episode left me totally drained. Every time Amazon offers the set (also love the packaging) at a sale price, I give it as a gift. Everyone should experience Six Feet Under. :)

O.K. you all have me really wanting to watch it! But Netflix only offers it on disc. I get two a week. Would take forever to see. I really like to be able to watch the next episode quickly if the previous has left me hanging!

Might consider a purchase if it really is as good as many of you say.

What other series is it like? Or at least similar in emotional attachment to the characters.

Hmmmmm...not really like any other series. This is a story about a family that owns a funeral home (hence the name). Each week the story focuses on the person who has passed, along with the family running the business. Sounds morose...but it isn't. As for emotional attachment, you fall in love with each character. It's really that simple (or complex).

I loaned my set to a colleague a while ago -- thanks for the reminder. If I can get it back from her quickly, I'll mail it to you.
