I was cruising reddit.com when I came across a thread requesting people to test a new tank. I responded to the original poster that I would like to try their new tank. After giving my information the company sent me their product. This is my honest opinion and review of their tank which I recieved for in exchange for reviews (good or bad) on sites that I frequent.
Let me start by saying that I have spoken with a company representative on the phone and was assured that this was the second generation version of this tank. There were some issues with the first run that were addressed after a few individuals tested their product. So far I'm very impressed with this company. They are actively trying to produce a tank that is worth buying. It is the Yocan version of a sub ohm tank. They did a very good job getting the original flaws fixed.
The kit I recieved came with the tank, one wickless ceramic atomizer, 2 BVOCC coil heads in .2 amd .5 ohms, an extra pyrex tank, the instruction manual and a numbered manufacturer card.
I have used the tank for about a week now almost exclusively. I would put my likes and dislikes in a bulleted format but I only have 2 issues with the tank. First issue- the airflow control ring, while very clicky, is a little wobbly. It seems that it could be made with a little less clearance to have that smooth snug fit. Not a biggie, didn't interfere with usage. Second issue- there was some burring on the inside bottom of the lower tank portion. I have pictures showing this. Not a major flaw, just made putting the tank on the base a little crunchy.
Now to the positives. Bear with me, there is ALOT that Yocan did right this go round. The tank capacity is 4.8ml. The airflow on this tank is amazing. I tried the wickless ceramic coil and it was ok, but the .5ohm BVOCC is like no other. There is barely a wisp of resistance. It gave me a clean cool vape. I ran juices ranging from 50/50 to pure VG (literally) and never got a dry or burned hit. Now I will put a disclaimer here that I didn't run this higher than 40w because that is the limit on my device. I ran it on my Kangertech Kbox. I did chain vape the crap out of it and while the base got warm, the vape and the pyrex drip tip stayed cool. The base has 4 settings; big cylon slot (9.5mm), medium cylon slot (6.5mm), 2 hole (1.25mm x2), and one hole (1.25mm), no closed off option. The medium slot has airflow similar to the original Subtank Mini wide open. The biggest slot is my favorite. I like a very airy draw. This would be pretty much useless to someone who likes MTL hits, even on the smallest hole closed to almost nothing it is airy.
The flavor from the tank is on par with most other subtanks on the market. I liked that the tank didn't really have a break in period, it tastes great right out of the box. It was not a sacrifice giving up my RDA and Subtank Mini this week. I got everything from one tank.
I would like to add a few suggestions to Yocan. The pyrex drip tip is great but it would be alot better if you made it wide bore. When you are hitting this tank wide open it could be that much better with about a 2mm increase on the diameter. Make sure the threads are smooth. Nobody likes crunchy threads. Extra o-rings would also be a HUGE plus. I hope you guys are making an RBA option for this, you could make a killing.
Thanks for reading my review. In summary, there is alot to be excited about with the Flavotank. It is a beast. Great performance and it is aesthetically pleasing as well. A few minor fixes would make it a 10/10. Right now I give it a strong 8.5/10. Would buy.
