The key here is who from the industry steps up to be a panelist. I watched a federal workshop a few years ago (not FDA) about
the credit card industry and potential high rates, hidden fees, etc. The panel was filled by major bank credit card issuers with magnificent credentials who spoke eloquently about how meticulous they were and how outsiders and 3rd parties were to blame.
I believe we will see big
tobacco attorneys and scientists that have conducted research funded by big
tobacco serving on the panels.
Most of the time, these workshops have web broadcasts - with luck, anyone with an interest can tune in and hear a great deal you will know is not exactly truth.
