Search on FDA Deeming on You tube and watch some videos.

One thing hitting NY is on August 8, 2016 al vaping stuff is classified as a tobacco product. No one under 18 can buy any vape stuff and photo ID's must be checked.
Also since NY prohibits mail order of tobacco products no online purchases of vaping products seems likely. Depends on the actual wording of the law though.

No new products can be introduced into the market. Including new juice flavors.

there is much more of course.

There are a few threads on the board that explain everything that is known in detail. But basically, everything that was made after 2007 will be out of the market. Everything in the market today is basically at risk of being made illegal to sell (not own), including juices and liquid nicotine, pre-made coils, tanks, mods, drippers, etc. There are people fighting it, but it's best to stock up just in case.

A few mods, drippers/tanks (preferably rebuildable), and some liquid nicotine as those are the most at danger. Concentrated flavorings, cotton, wire and batteries (18650s, 26650s, etc) should still be around, but no one is certain at this moment what the FDA will try to pull.

Likely, many vape shops and online sources will remain in business beyond that - but the regulations are nuts, and many of those businesses may have to go under over the next two years if we don't get the rules changed.
There are a dozen threads here (search "FDA Deeming" perhaps)...
And join CASAA - to learn how to support the fight against the insane regulations!

Very confused with this whole FDA regulation thing. My local vape shop has already posted a sign saying it will be closing mid august in New York. Should i be stocking up on liquid and mods? What exactly is going to happen?

    Welcome to ECF!

Unfortunately there may be quite a few business (manufacturers of hardware and e-liquid) leaving the market.

If you have the means to stock up then do so, but there is a lot to learn, and you can do it with ECF and YouTube.

On ECF you can look for discussions by searching for "vapocalypse", "deeming" or "FDA".

NOTE: all of the people who are/were not stocking up have been proven wrong so far. Running around screaming, "The Sky Is Falling" is now the fact of the matter.

    I say

Get three spare mods, Rebuildable attys, three liters of nicotine, flavors for eJuice, abd 500 feet wire.

Then learn to rebuild the RDAs or RTAs, and DIY Ejuice.

If you use tanks that need premade coil heads those coil heads will become unavailable.

Hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. Stock up while you can. Something could happen that could significantly soften the FDAs ecig rules, and we may all look back on this in a couple years as just a really scary bump in the road that ultimately lead to nothing; however, it's also quite possible that the rules will stand, or even get worse. Also, even if the ecig rules are eventually reined in somewhat, things could still get a lot worse before they get better.

Could not say it better or agree more.

    I have:

    • a couple of mechanical (unregulated) mods. Durable with nothing to break.
    • A rebuildable dripper (RDA) and a rebuildable tank (RTA); I plan to buy another RDA before August 2016
    • Plenty of kanthal wire for building coils; plenty of wick (organic cotton & rayon)
    • Tools to rebuild coils (miniature screwdriver set, tweezers, ohm reader)
    • I've cut my nicotine down to 3mg. I have 500ml of 24mg unflavored nicotine base in the freezer to make my own DIY Eliquid. If I had to, I could make my own 0mg nicotine e-liquid with vegetable glycerin (Walmart) and add some concentrated flavoring.
    • 18650 IMR batteries for mods will always be available somewhere because flashlight enthusiasts use them, too. Kanthal wire and wick materials will always be available.
    • There is the possibility that 99% of all other vape products will become unavailable in the US. So a mech mod with rebuildable atomizers is the only insurance of being able to vape post-FDA regulations.
I knew this was coming three years ago and I have prepared for the worse.

Any government would be crazy to kill a potential cash cow.

This is just the opening gambit....they are preparing to shake down the vaping industry to start supplying a constant and sustainable Stream of state revenue to their coffers...that's all.

They don't see it That way.

The assorted States gets big money fron smokers in taxes.

Then there was the lawsuit where big tobbaco has to pay billions to the States for care of smokers, anti smoking campaigns.

The money they would get from vaping is a fraction of what they are losing

They don't care that vaping is a healthier alternative. All they give a (expletive) about is the $

You'll probably want to stock up on...

    1. Mods. Get at least 3, more if possible. Don't skimp here, look for better quality mods with a proven history of reliability. Make sure they have replacable batteries. A stainless steel 510 connector would be advisable as well since they do not strip as easily and can last for years.

    2. RTA/RBA. Again, get 3 and any spare parts kits that they may have. Especially glass and screws. Learn how to build your own coils. This will save you the trouble of having to try to find prebuilt coils for your tanks. It's also cheaper in the long run.

    3. Nicotine solution for DIY. If you can, buy it in a vacuum sealed glass bottle. If you can't then buy some dark colored glass bottles and fill them with as much as you can fit without spilling and put it in the freezer. Nicotine solution that is properly packaged and stored in a freezer can last for years. You shouldn't have any problems buying the other ingredients for DIY juice as they're all sold for other purposes. You can get PG from farm supply shops, VG from any health store or even Walmart, and flavorings can be bought online. They aren't unique to the ecig industry so they won't be covered by the regulations.

Everything else you need will not be covered by the ban. Wire and wicking material for your RTA/RBA, PG, VG, flavorings, and batteries will all be readily available. Just stock up on the essentials. Mods, rebuilable tanks, and nicotine. That's what will be hard if not impossible to buy.
