Fear of wearing out the treads my brand new ProVari

Maybe my fear is not warranted, but here is the situation:
Been vapin for 2 months now, second week I bought an eVic. Nice little device and really enjoyed it. 2 weeks after that I bought an AGA-T2 and played with that for a bit… got it to work great.

Now in the weeks after that, removing and inserting the AGA-T2 on the eVice was a frequent occurrence. After a while I notice that I didn’t need to turn 5 complete turns, but only 2 to get it all tight. ?? After microscope inspection of the treads on the eVic I noticed that the treads were wearing out. I think it was the fact that the AGA-T2 treads where pretty solid compared to the eVic.

What to do? So I when online and bought this little puppy.



I figure I would screw that on the eVic, leave it there, and whenever I would change the attys the treads on the adapter would take the wear. (a few bucks rather then 70 $ eVic head) .

So that is done.

Now for my ProVari fear: Got one a few days ago. I know I’m playing a lot with different attys, trying this and that… so I screw and unscrew a lot. (Mind out of gutter now!) So I decided to install the same adapter on the ProVari. Same idea of the eVic “save the treads” tactic.

I don’t use carto tanks yet, just carto’s so for now it looks like that.

Here is the question: (finally) Has anybody ever have the treads on the head wear out? I looked on the Provape website and the warranty does not exclude the wear of the head treads specifically.
I like the ProVari very much, and I want to keep it forever and ever and ever…. Hehehe am I being too cautious here?

I hadn't thought of that Regzzz! Now I'm curious too! I'm constantly changing tanks back n forth most of the day. Especially when I'm around the house! I'm already OCD to begin with & now I'm getting worried too!!! Where did you get your adapter from!!

I got it at Smoktek.com, they where very cheap under 4$. (I bought 4, you know, Apocalypse moi).

Since I'm just a ProVari noob, I'd be interested to see if this (wear) has ever happened to others. Mind you, I do know that the eVic is not as great and sturdy construction as the Provari, so there lies my curiosity!

How's the spider vaping? hehehe

The thread lube is for the end cap. It starts to get dry and squeeky after a while. The thread lube keeps it screwing on and off like butter. I also use a large amount of different tanks, RBA's, carts and attys on my Provari V2. Sometimes multiple devices in a single day. I've been doing this for almost 6 months and haven't had a problem, and I'm really rough. The Provari is a much higher quality device. Comparing your eVic to a Provari is like comparing a Chinese DID knockoff to a Z Atty Pro. I've had cart tanks dry and stick to the cartridge and I've screwed the tank (cartridge) hard enough on the Provari to unstick the tank I can't tell you how many times. I wouldn't worry about it.

So I found this similar compound in a nearby store:




Penetrates aluminum oxide to maintain inter-strand and inter-conductive paths. Guards against oxidization. Improves conductivity and produces a cooler connection. An excellent compound for aluminum to aluminum and aluminum to copper wire connection.

I think this will work great.

It Must Feed is correct. What Provape sells and recommends is a very similar product to what Regzzz got, called Noalox.

The bare metal threads of the Provari's battery cap will oxidize (similar to rust), turn dark and gritty over time, and if allowed to continue can cause the cap to lock up or freeze. Routine maintanance application/cleaning will keep the threads "buttery".

The accumulation of oxidation in the threads can also affect the conduction of the batteries. So if for some reason your Provari stops working for no apparent reason, check the threads for the dark gritty oxidation.

I don't believe Provape recommends putting the Noalox on the top connector. They recommend an isopropyl alcohol cleansing with a cotton tipped applicator as needed.

Yeah, I wouldn't use Noalox on the 510 connector. I tried it on my Ego batteries where oxidation was a real problem. I most definitely tasted it in my vape, and extremely strongly. I'm sure you don't want to be ingesting this stuff. You could try it between your adapter and the Provari where it wouldn't heat up as much, but keep in mind that it's not going to be easy to clean off from the recessed 510 connection if it causes you problems.

I have had my Provari for almost a year now and no issues with the threads and I have used over 20 different attys on it and the threads are as smooth as day one. Your accessory is not necessary but it looks great. This device is a tank don't worry about the treads you will be fine.

I've had a Provari for about 15 months now and the threads are perfect. I've used Vivis, CE2s, Cartos (many varieties), atties etc and the threading is still perfect.

I can't even begin to imagine all of the ons and offs my ProVari has had in the past 18 months...threads are fine. I suspect it was the AGA threads that caused the damage rather than weak threads on the eVic.
