hello all! 17 days since my last cig after 30 years of smoking. I am thrilled!!!!! cant believe how easy it was to quit using vaping as a replacement. I am experiencing all the wonderful benefits: ease of breathing, return of sense of smell, no more coughing, no more smoke smell, clean house, car, windows, etc.
now for one small issue. I have this feeling like there's something on the back of my throat. not enough to make me cough, but makes me want to clear my throat all the time. anyone else experience this? is it the pg/vg? any suggestions for eliminating this?
thanks for any input.

What nic level are u using? I did smoke for 30 years as well, I started at 16mg and quickly dropped to 6, and happy with it.

PG and VG will both dry out your throat if you do not drink extra water after switching to vaping, as they both absorb moisture really well. This did irritate my throat for a little bit when I started. Drinking extra water helps out a lot. I also think that my body also needed some time to adjust to vapor as opposed to smoke all the time, vapor particles are 10 times larger than smoke particles. Your lungs will also start to clear out a lot of the tar from cigarette smoke which you might be feeling in the back of your throat. These symptoms will pass in time as long as you drink plenty of water.

You may also have a PG allergy. This is rare but not unheard of. Switching to a all VG juice would help with that. 100% VG can be a pain to keep wicking in tanks so I would not go that rout unless your symptoms worsen.

Flavors, I find any mint, menthol, or sharp citris fruit flavors tend to hit the back of the throat harder.

I stay with Cherry Tobacco, Strawberry, Cherry, banana bread, applewood, rasberry, blueberry and other mellow flavors.

I've also noticed 50/50 VG/PG seems to be a little harsher on me. 60/40, 70/30 and 80/20 is more mellow. When selecting and looking at Juice I also note the color, I tend to stay away from dark colors juices that tend to be thicker as bottom coils don't seem to absorb them as easy and if I chain vape I get dry hits (hate those!).

Stick with it trust me, 25 years of 1 to 1.5 packs a day and have been tobacco free for a month and a half now. first week two was an adjustment/learning curve.

Also, straight "Lung Hits" are a bit harder on your throat than a "Mouth Hit" where you take it in first and then into your lungs.

One other note, I grabbed a bottle of creamy custard, this mixes well with strawberry, rasberry or blueberry, I'll fill the tank 1/2 fruit and 1/2 custard and wow, really smooth and great flavor!

Cool.

I got the same thing, feels like your larynx is coated and you have to clear your throat all the time?
After a 2 months, I also noticed a soreness on the palate.
I found out I was allergic to the PG, so went to 20/80 VG and so far, it seems to be working.
Next batch, I will cut back my nic from 12mg to 6 if the soreness doesn't go away.

ETA I WILL NOT GO BACK TO ANALOGS

I felt like I constantly had throat/sinus problems for the first month or two when I first started vaping, but it DOES go away. I think it's just from going from smoke to a vapor. It wasn't a throat hit thing though, because the throat hit is pleasurable and you only get a throat hit when you take a hit off of your ecig. Some people do have a PG allergy, and VG is more natural, but it also doesn't produce as much vapor, usually not a much flavor, you get less of a throat hit, and it's thicker, so it can gunk up the wicks of your attys and clearomizers that way. I don't recommend switching anything until your body gets used to the smoke to vapor transition. If it doesn't go away within 60 days of switching, that's when I'd make the switch to VG. And I agree with EVERYONE who recommended you stay hydrated! I liked to sip warm tea when I began vaping :)

What I've learned is that VG will create more mucus and PG will dry you out more. VG is much thicker and it will coat your throat. People that vape higher VG content liquids tend to say that they have to clear their throat quite often as well as have a higher mucus production than when they vape higher PG content liquids. The mucus may also cause you get an itchy feeling in the back of your throat. Although, sometimes when the throat is too dry (from PG) it may cause the same itch effect, but for a totally different reason than a VG throat tickle. As everyone else has already mentioned, drink lots of water. I personally like more VG:pG or at least equal, but never the other way around.
