Well I have been vaping a few weeks and I am in love with all the flavors (I have about 15 sitting on my table). I had been using cheapo ce4's and ce5's. I thought I would branch out and try other things at the same time as get some new clearomizers. I purchased a bunch of Kanger Evods which I really like. I also purchased a smok aro pyrex tank for my black licorice (Very nice vape imo). I also purchased a couple DCT 510 Tank, 3.5ml Capacity from a vape shop. They came with a carto and I bought a 5 pack. I had a couple questions. I soaked the poly fill (Or whatever you call it) inside carto and made sure it was soaked before I started. I put it back in tank slid it up and filled the tank. I put my finger on bottom and sucked though drip tip so filling would be saturated. Some spit up in my mouth so I know it was soaked. I turned on my vision spinner (low voltage first) and puffed away. I enjoyed it but after a bit I lost all flavor. So I took tank off and sucked on drip tip again. Is that common? Could it be it was a cheap carto and I need one with more holes? It has one tiny hole and I am using a 50/50 blend. I think the good clearos give a better taste than these. Is it something I need to get used to? Like I said it was my first and I don't think I will screwed it up. It was not a brand name tank so could the vape shop sent me a generic one with a crap carto? Just checking and making sure I did it right. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know I will be getting some more Evods and Aro pyrex tanks for the harsh juice.

It sounds like you primed the carto correctly, and filled the tank properly. My guess is it could be a lousy carto or your e-liquid is too thick for just one laser-drilled hole. Another factor could be the resistance, or ohm rating of the carto. This resistance rating determines how hot the heating coils can get inside the carto. Unless I missed it, you didn't say if you are using a single fixed voltage battery or a variable voltage battery. Which one you are using will help determine which ohm cartomizer you should be using. (think the watts on a lightbulb).

I'll supply you a link to a vendor who sells cartos with a choice of ohm rating and number of holes. I suggest getting some 2-hole cartos in 2.0 ohm. They use a drop down menu.

That isn't the way I prime my cartos exactly...

I use Smok DCTs and they sound very similar to yours.

First, fill the tank and slide the carto the rest of the way in. Prime the center by filling it until it drips ON ITS OWN. That is the way they told me to do it in the vape shop I go to, and they work very well for me.

50/50 is pretty thick stuff, but I use 40/60 and mine blows CLOUDS. I have gotten bad coils right out of the box though...

My suggestion is that your red Batitude's blog and carto set up guide completely, then read it again. He is the carto Guru round these parts.

I did this and now I am in Carto tank heaven!

Also check out youtube, search for how to prime a cartomizer. You will get a few dozen hits. Watch them all, you will find many different methods. Use the one that makes sense to you.

Enjoy!!

I started with clearos and went to cartos then to rdas. Now I'm just using rdas and cartos. What I suggest is getting yourself a carto punch and punch your own. I notice that the homes in the prepunched ones are too small for most juices. If you are using boges, use the "condom" method to fill it. The carto comes with 2 sleeves, one covering the mouth price part and one covering the connection. Take one off, fill it about 1/3 to 1/2 way with you juice. Then you want to push the condom back onto the 519 connection side of the carto. This will prime your carto perfectly. Put your drip tip on and blow through the carto to get excess fluid out. Punch your hole and drop it in a tank and you are good to go.

Boom goes the dynamite!

Your tank likely is an XL length tank, so yes you will need XL cartomizers. Study the above graphic to see exactly what each carto brand manufacturer calls their XL cartos.

Why do some people call me "Batitude"? It's Baditude.

My blog article on cartotank setup has four excellent videos in it.

I usually slot my punched cartos with a dremel (horizontally). I like thicker juices normally. Also use the condom method to fill via the mouthpiece end prior to placing it into the tank. I take the top cap off and slide the carto into the bottom (gives me a very wide space to fill the tank.

I position the carto centered as I gently line it up with the top hole on top cap. Once the carto is in place I take the rubber end out and put my drip tip in, wipe it down and place it on my battery/mod. I take a few unpowered drags and prime it just a little more and see some bubbles, then take a short pull to see it everything is kosher. (I forgot to add that I try and seal the tank from the bottom so least amount of airflow is available when doing the unpowered hits). Like the beauty ring on an ego twist or top ring on my vamo. Then adjust for good airflow.

Whatever way works for you is the right way. Really like the time Baditude takes on creating great tutorials and links, very nice guy!

Vape on brother, you'll be a pro in no time.
