Wow, good find Hellen! I guess if Lipton described the tea bag on their website as "Polyethylene terephthalate mesh" people might be a little turned off to putting something with such a long name in their tea. 
Although, PET is generally referred simply as "polyester", so I think it would be safe to assume the polyester tulle fabric at fabric stores is the same thing as the tea bag material and less expensive than buying the tea bags. I think I might have to give that a try when i run out of tea bags.
