Hi all,

So I can't seem to manage to fill a cart for the life of me. I've tried taking the polyfill out and filling 2/3 the way full, I've tried injecting or driping into the cart until it's glossy. The result in every case is a horrible flavor of burning that makes my nose hurt and my eyes water. Dripping work fine for me as do the pre-filled carts I've purchased. What's the deal? I'm probably going to get a drip tip ASAP so this isn't a huge deal, but it would be nice to be able to fill a cart for mobility.
I'm using VG and flavour and I've tried adding 10% water.

Vg is so thick that it is hard for the polyfil to absorb quickly. It takes a long time. When I used carts, I would help it along by moving the polyfil with the straight end of a paper clip that I had uncurled and kinda gave it room to go down the inside wall of the cart. Thinning the vg will help, but you might lose flavor. I hope you only used distilled water when you thinned it by 10%. Also try to put a couple of drips on the atty too before putting the cart in. :)

I use a modified straw mod that works well for me. If you already have a straw that's about three sixteenth in diameter it's easy to do. The idea is to cut the poly to about five sixteenth of an inch long, and have the straw underneath to prevent the poly from pushing back in the cart. Cut the straw about one half inch long. Make four straight cuts up the straw to about one eighth from top. Bend two opposite sides out on the straw and snip. Now your straw is intact at the top for about an eighth of an inch, then has like two legs the rest of the way. Put it in the cart legs first, you want the top of the straw to be about three sixteenth from the top of the cart, just cut a little off the bottom until it suits you. Now cut the poly to about five sixteenth of an inch long, fill the cart with juice to the top of the straw, place poly on top and add a couple drops to the poly. For me, this wicks well down to the poly starting to turn white before my 'dry' puff telling me to refill. The thickest juice I have is about 70 PG 30 VG, but I would think all VG would be ok with a couple drops of water added.

The key to it tho is having a straw with a diameter that isn't too big or too small. If you do try it, let us know how it works for you. Vape on! Later, JD :vapor:

Could be a variety of things. The stuffing has to be a bit fluffy, compressed enough to not let the juice pour out but not so much that it won't flow. Prefilled carts you have may be filled with PG which is thinner and may flow more easily through the stuffing. Also, the stuffing needs to be positioned in the cart so it contacts the atty well but does not smother/surround it with stuffing. And the top of the stuffing needs to be damp. I usually fill the cart about 1/2 with juice, push the stuffing into the juice, move it back up into position and then add 1-2 drops on top (enough to make it look a bit damp on top) becuase if the stuffing is dry on top it won't wick the juice up well.

I also give up on the original stuffing if it stops wicking well and I replace with blue foam. I am still learning to cut it right for my carts but if you have a 510 or 901 you can buy precut pieces (I think at strictlyejuice.com)

Blue foam is much better that the polyfil that comes with the carts, I always replace it before the first use.
Your burnt tastes are probably not enough juice on the atty if dripping works.

Cutting to size is simple, make it big enough so you have to compress a little and it stays in place.
Then when you drip juice in, see how fast or slow it absorbs, it goes in about the same as it comes
out to wet your atty. VG is thick so use a little less, just enough so it absorbs easily, if it sits on top
of the foam too long, trim it very slightly, try it again. With a little practice cutting a piece is easy.
