Thanks for everyone that helped me narrow down my choices for a pv. I had (mostly) decided on the riva lite 510 from liberty-flights, but was waiting till Monday for my order. Now, as I get ready for my order, I was looking back over my options, and see that mypvshop has the fs510 for 19.99 (about 10 less than the riva) and the fs ego for about the same price. My indecisiveness, combined with the overwhelming amount of choices and info, has me reconsidering my options. So, before I place my order, I wanted to hear your opinions. Riva 510, fs 510, or fs ego?

A quick reminder about me: I typically am a 7-10/day analog. Since getting my generic smokeshop pv, I'm down to 5-7, which would be decreased much further if I had more than one battery that lasted literally 1 hour, tops (I'm going into the smokeshop for a refund tomorrow, as more than once the battery on my current pv has blinked for recharging minutes after pulling it off the plug. I'll be happy to get my money back, but this means I'll be w/o a pv until my order). I'm hoping to us vapor to slowly cut my nic and eventually be free of any device. That being said, I definitely need to get in my order, because being w/o anything means my analog usage is likely to pick back up, so any final thoughts are much appreciated!

Do you have a link for the one for $19.99? If it's a 510 batteries only last a couple hours. Riva or ego batteries last 8-10.

A big consideration with where you purchase (at least for me) is the warranty. I purchased the Joye ego at LF and they have a 6 month warranty on batteries. I think the Riva is slightly less. Around 2 months on attys.

I've been vaping 2 1/2 mos and I've already had to replace a battery, a pass-thru and two attys. If I didn't purchase from a vendor that had a good warranty it would have cost me $63.00.

If everything is comparable, go for the cheaper. Make sure they're both offering the same thing. I'd pass on the 510 unless you buy a lot of back up batteries.

kfn78 - Hello and welcome to ECF! I have the Riva lite 510 from Liberty-Flights and just recently received the FS510 from myPVshop. Based on what' you're saying about your smoking habit as well as your statements indicating that you were a light smoke, I would suggest that you may well be thrilled with the FS510. Your battery life will be shorter than with the Riva but you'll retain that regular cigarette look and "feel". My one year anniversary of being tobacco free was April 1st. My first eCig was the KR808D-1 280mAH manual, but, like many, I soon moved up the the eGo and/or Riva; I am surprised at how much I now find myself preferring the 510 180 mAh for its size and performance.

Hope this helps a bit.

Get the rive lite 510. I know 3 people locally the have bought that same kit and they like it because the battery last a long time between charges and all 510 products work with them. I have had the riva for 3 months and the batteries are still working great. You get 2 batteries in the kit so you will have plenty of power to vape all day.

I'd stay away from the FS because of the incompatibility with Joye products and Joye rules the 510 world.

myPVshop Electronic Cigarettes - 510/eGo Electronic Cigarette

If you want a 510, get the joye 510 no box kit from cignot for $35. You can always upgrade to an eGo or Riva if you need more battery life by buying a charger and a few batts (and a cone) rather than a whole new kit. Going with the Riva kit to start is not a bad choice either. I vape almost exclusively eGo/Riva/tornado stuff now, but I got off cigs with a joye 510.

The fsEgo is $32.99 has one 650 mah and one 1000 mah batt, but comes with only one atomizer, while the Riva works out to $29.99 with the 20% discount and has 2 atty's. With the fs you'll have to spend around $8 on at least one more atty because you do need a spare. If you smoke less than 1/2 pack a day you might be able to get by with a standard 510, but most of us vape more than we smoked so you may end up frustrated with it.

Personally, I'd go with the Riva. It may be overkill for you in the battery department, but that's a lot better than coming up short.

If fs is in any way not 510 compatible don't get it. What Kent says makes it sound incompatible in some way.

.

dormouse, this is what concerned me:

"CHARGER COMPATIBILITY ISSUES

CHARGERS FOR EACH MODEL AND BATTERY TYPE ARE DIFFERENT
CHARGERS SHOULD ONLY BE USED WITH THE MATCHING BATTERY

Use Joye 510 chargers only with Joye 510 batteries
Use Joye eGo chargers only with Joye eGo batteries
Use FS 510 chargers only with FS 510 batteries
Use FS eGo chargers only with FS eGo batteries"

Now I'm not certain whether this was the vendors way of saying don't charge any 510 with an eGo charger but that isn't really what it says.... it has a separate line for joye 510 and fs 510... I know there are some 510 chargers that don't charge a joye 510 - the charger one gets with a disposable for one and I ran into a 'universal charger' that wasn't 'universal' once. Perhaps emailing the vendor might be the ticket here if the OP only has the $20 to spend...

This may be the strange issue of reversed polarity. For some reason, we're seeing more and more 510 PVs with reversed polarity arriving from China. Like VGO. What this means is that the cartomizers and atties will work with the different batteries, but the chargers will not. If you put a VGO on a Joye charger, it will stop working.

Don't ask me... Ask your vendor.

The Riva is as Good as the Joye, I have both of them. With the kit from Liberty-Flights you will get 2 batteries and chargers, every thing you need. All you need then in cartomizers for any 510 model thread, or any Joye or 510 product will work on the
Riva. The differance in the chargers is with the Riva it charges your battery faster and will work with Joye or Riva batteries. The charger in the kit, is not to be used to charge the little 510 batteries that are the size of a cigarette. They are for the Riva batteries in your kit.
