...final questions before ordering...........

OK, after much head banging and hair pulling I'm going to place my order for my first PV's and I have a couple of last question...I will be ordering from LF and will be ordering two starter sets of the Riva 510 lite...here are my questions....
1) the pics of the Rivas look like eGos but the text say 510's...which are they
2) I want a tank system, the Riva's come with carts...can I order tanks and have them fit or will they require a different atomizer...
3) My Wife(aka the poor girl) BADLY wants the led light on the end of the battery, the Riva's appear to not have them...can I order Firefly batteries and just screw the rest of the system to them
thank you in advance, as soon as I can get the answer to those questions, I will place my order and head on down the road to quitting analogs for good............

1. Egos is 510 threaded. Riva is 510 threaded, Riva is an Ego clone, fat battery high charge (650mah+) models with approx 14mm diameter batteries. A Joye 510 is a slim 9.2mm mini, also 510 threaded but cannot use the Ego/Riva charger and cannot use the hotter LR atomizers and cartomizers (battery charge is 180mah, and 280mah for the mega xl 128mm long size) (and if you ever get one of these slim models too, I highly recommend manual batteries.

2. Many people complain of issues with the tanks. I believe there is no problem putting an Ego-T tank atty and Ego-T tanks on the Riva but ask someone who has actually done that.

IMO, before trying, tanks, try what most people prefer - cartomizers. Buy some standard resistance Boge 510 cartomizers (2.8-3.2 ohms). Standard resistance for 2 reasons - easy to learn on, and because your kit comes with atomizers that are LR (hotter) and that may be too much hit with 100% PG juices or until you find your best nicotine level. I actually use standard resistance all the time for my favorite thinner juices because I share the cartomizers with my slim manual Joye 510 and slim ecigs cannot use LR. Once you learnt o use them and keep them damp, you could try the hotter LR Boge cartomizers if you want.

And I recommend you but 2 plastic or delrin 510 drip tips. Those can be used in the Riva atomizers for testing juices (warning - atomizers usully arrive with nasty tasting primer on them - * blow that out into a tissue, prime the atty with 4 drops juice, wait a couple of minutes, mostly vape that off without inhaling, repeat from * until the vapor tastes OK


3. The light of a Riva is in the button and mine are blue. I thin there is only one fat battery model with a light on the end. I think the VGO has the light on the end but it may be a white LED. This is the 510-threaded VGO - ask the vendor

If you want to buy your wife something extra...
Slim ecigs have the light on the end, and a Joye 510 manual in white (180mah or the mega xl 280mah) usually has red or orange LED (if you buy one I recommend manual)
You could get her a little 180mah Joye 510 for when she wants something smaller than Riva - buy manual to get the safe sealed end and choose a color with a red LED. These may have a Cignot logo on them. Nice that they list the LED colors. These are tiny with a Boge cartomizer - the size of a 100 cigarette and just a bit thicker. And very short battery life. But you can get a red LED on the end

ms dormouse, THANK YOU...I wanted the tanks system because of extended vapeing time...are there other options which would give me extended vapeing time and are as easily refilled as the tanks are.............

Clear eGo Mega Dual Coil Cartomizer the HUUUUUGE EMDCC cartomisers are better than tanks IMHO. Easier to refill, better flavour, same "heat" and just all round pretty awesome for an ego.

Any cartomiser is a better portable solution than a tank tbh

Standard Boge cartomizers hold 2x as much as a cart, need juice added less often, come with end caps so you can pocket a few or keep them is a little plastic 4 AA battery case (cheap on Ebay)

Note - cartos have limited lives and are hard to clean and dry (and may never work as well again if you do) so most people don't bother. Only put juices you like in cartos. And I recommend thinner juices 20% of less VG, preferably light color juices that don't leave sediment.

I recommend you learn on the Boge standard resistance which can be filled with a normal juice bottle. Then you could experiment with reservoir models that need a syringe etc.

How I fill Vapor4Life KR8 cartos and Boge 510 cartos

Pop out the soft cap with an unbent paperclip in the mouth hole, very careful not to catch stuffing or the wire loop.
Shake and open the eliquid
Hold a bit of tissue on the threaded end hole, tilt the carto, and add 18 drops per ml of capacity into the stuffing (Boges and most KR8 cartos are about 1ml).
Wait 15 seconds or so then see how many more drops the carto stuffing will soak in easily.
Clean up the threaded end, tilt open end down into tissue, puff into threaded end to clear air channel (Boges and the KR8 cartos I use have a defined center air channel and I want to see light through that)
Sop up any loose juice above the stuffing
Cap and let it settle - I lay it on different sides for 15-20 minutes to make sure every bit of stuffing gets damp so I won't singe the carto. if you use thicker juice than me (I use 20% Vg or less) then you may need to wait much longer.

While vaping, if the vapor gets a bit light or a bit dry or the carto is getting hotter than normal, I take the carto off the battery and add eliquid. I sometimes use a plastic or delrin drip tip as a mouthpiece on Boge and KR8 cartos (not to drip into since the juice would head for the central air channel)

...thanks all, I just pulled the trigger on a black and a titanium Riva 510 kit along with a couple of 30ml bottles of USA blend and one of clove black(wife likes cloves)...LF was out of Boge standard black/titanium cartos...I do realize I will need more "stuff" BUT I need to get 'em in my hands and get started...once again, thanks to all for helping me sort out all the info I was swimming in

They are good but for a newbie they're pretty huge. And if you aren't sure yet what juice you like, you make quite a committment when you fill these up.

If you know the juice you like and don't care about size they're great. So are the echo-e cartos and they look a little better.

Make sure you review your purchases at LF after you get them, you get a 49 cent credit for each item you review. I think you'll love the Riva, love the cartos. If you don't fall in love with the juice don't dispair. Try out a couple different vendors or even check the classifieds. I think people probably spend more money on juice than their actual kit when they first start. Once you hit on the right juice, vaping heaven!
