Finally chose & got my starter kit. It's a...

Welll, after a couple weeks of researching here on ECF and Vapor Guides I'd narrowed my search & decision down to a 510 system and was targetting an eGo / Riva / Joye or similar 'Fat Batt'. Larger storage and longer battery life were the only basic requirements. Genuine over knockoff too.

Turns out it was to be a similar.

See, it finally came time to stop procrastinating and actually order something. It was only then I realized I'd spent so much time looking for "the right eCig for me" that I'd spent no time looking at distribs. Clicked on a couple ads, neither having any of my top choices. Clicked on the SMOKtech banner, only to find out it's a volume mfg / supplier. Came back to the forum and started looking for someone located in the South or SE. Clicked on one and found it to be located in central GA. "Close to home," I thought.. so picked up the phone and dialed the 888 number.

Voicemail.

"Figures," thought I, but left a message anyhow.

Hung up and was getting ready to click on another listing when my phone rings. "Hi. This is Stormy from Stormy's Vapor Cellar. Sorry I missed your call. How can I help you?"

"Well that's cool," I thought, so we began having a little conversation. It didn't take but a couple of minutes for both of us (especially me) to realize I had very little idea what I was talking about. The only thing I sorta kinda knew was what I wanted.

After talking for awhile Stormy lead me to something I've never even seen listed:
SMOKtech LR 900mah Cartomiser Starter Kit. Major selling point for me: 5ml cartomisers.

I ordered it late Wednesday; she mailed it Thursday; it was in my PO Box Saturday.

I was going to write this up yesterday, but I'm still trapped in the middle of -LoL-'s initial post -- which I'm sure anyone who's ever read anything penned by LoL will forgive my lapse.

As noted, I've never seen anything about this unit anywhere. Is it brand new? Are these carts a new size for them? Are these batts a new size for them? Is it just the combination of the two that's new? ??

I don't know. And honestly, it doesn't matter. I'm pleased as heck with the setup! It's a solid unit, has heft. Nothing about it feels or looks cheap. It puts out the same amount of vapor I'd get smokewise off an analogue. I'm a longtime menthol smoker, so I ordered both 24ml & 11ml menthol tobacco juice along with 11ml straight menthol so I could mix to close to what I've been smoking the last wayyyy tooo many decades, and I have to say it's close enough in similarity that I'm ok with it. There's a good throat hit. I toned down the 24 a bit with the 11 and added a few drops of straight 11 menthol, and it reminds me very much of the Kool Mild 100s of old I was hooked on.. NOT the new Kool Blue.. those different taste different formula falling-apart-ash burn-up-in-three-minute lame excuse of a coffin nail rags they have on the market today.

The kit came with a USB-to-batt plug, a 110V wall plug with female USB adaptor slot, two carts and two batts, one of which had a full charge and one that was stone daid. The battery charged from total drain to full in just under 2 hours. I've been on the same battery since 4AM Sunday. So it's gotten me through all day yesterday and so far today on moderate vaping. I can't give a good report on the cartos, because I've been keeping it "topped off," even though I'm not quite sure if I've even come anywhere close to topping it off to begin with. I've not so far filled it full to the point where I can see juice "floating".. or seeing the filler really saturated. Can anyone tell me approx how many drops = 1 ml? Initial fill was 110 drops, and I had the feeling there was room forrr, ehhhh.. more -- like another 30 - 40 drops maybe? Just guessing here. And just keeping it wet.

All in all I have to say I'm quite satisfied / pleased with this unit as a first choice PV. It's able to provide what I require/expect in/from an eCig, and the eCig itself is aesthetically pleasing. I wouldn't hesitate to use it in public.

That is so great! What a great experience ordering your first pv! I have no idea why but it never even occurred to me to call anyone. What a great idea.

They say 20 drops is 1 ml. but that's not exact. I'm not exactly sure why type or what size cartos you have but it's important to keep them full. Cartomizer with not enough juice will burn and taste nasty! Then they need to be thrown away.

Sounds like you're doing great! Welcome to the forum!

You've had such a great intro into vaping how cool! Defiantly got what you wanted it looks like. I totally understand what you mean by lil old ladie's posts I've gotten lost in them and some of her blogs as well! Wonderful woman full of priceless knowledge and wit here on ECF. Really from how it looks you may even a kit even better then the typical eGo and this is coming from an eGo user because that one looks designed to handle LR. Very nice!

swedishfish -- They're 5ml cartos. I couldn't find much posted on 5ml'ers. The only one that had any decent info was from 3-4 months back, and that person said he was only able to get about 3.8ml into his. I think hs were for an eGo, but aren't eGo and SMOK one and the same? From what I was able to gather the 5ml is fairly new size, so I'm just guessing they've improved on them over the last quarter. And I pretty much called bacause it was a toll-free #. But really, I would've called anyhow.. cos I have some minutes to burn on a cell phone.

Vapoor -- I 'think' she gave me the 18% anyhow. If she didn't, she sent me a couple of her homebrew juices samplesize to try, which makes it close enough to a wash. And if she did, welll.. a nice little bonus then.

Thanks mooreted -- I think it is a nice setup too. Should get some mileage out of it for sure!

Cactusgirl -- Ditto to above. And yes, I toploaded them. Pulled the tip n good to drip.

Off Topic -- Good to hear about their cartos 1st person. Read good things about 'em as far as cleaning and reusing goes. Was a factor in my choice.

Dande... -- hopefully 2day or 2morrow 4 U!

Frosting -- 10/4 on LoL!! The coils are dual LR.

Excellent and that's the sign of an awesome supplier. Wasn't nitpickin but just wanted the best for a fellow vaper. I also use SmokTech Megas and I LOVE them although not as large as yours. Again congrats.

How many drops 1ml is can vary quite a bit. Not all dropper bottles give the same size drop. I have one dropper bottle that is 18 drops for 1ml and another that is 38 drops for 1ml, which is over twice as many drops to equal the same amount. The PG/VG ratio of the juice will also effect the amount of drops to equal 1ml.
For a carto that big I recommend using a syringe to fill them. Dripping into the top will take a LOnG time bc they hold so much juice and you have to wait for the juice to settle. Using a syringe would be alot faster and will take all the guesswork out of filling them. It will also ensure they are filled correctly since you push the needle to the bottom and fill from the bottom up. It's very easy to do and I think you'll find it much easier than drip filling them. If you order a pack of cartos from CCV you get a free syringe. That's the syringe I use to fill all my cartos and it's perfect for XL cartos like the ones your using bc it has an inch and a half needle. I recommend trying the Ressurector cartos on your PV. They are awesome cartos and produce a lot of vapor. They are 1.7ohm and hold alittle over 2ml of juice. It obviously doesn't hold as much as what your using now, but even the 2ml lasts a pretty long time before you need a refill. Plus you could always get a tank for them and hold 5ml of juice or more. They also won't drain your battery as fast bc their single coil instead of dual coil.
I think you'd really like them and they could be a nice change of pace when you don't always want to use a huge carto. If you get some of them you'll get a free syringe that you could use to fill the Ressurectors and your mega dual coils.
Goodluck!
