So I got my eGo just now. I tried to blow what ever was in the atomizer into a tissue before I lit up. I also let it dry burn for a few seconds at a time to burn up any other residue. I know it'll have a break in period where it gets better over time.

Now I'm curious did I clean out the atomizer properly? I have a second one I haven't touched yet and before I mess with it I was curious if any of you had some suggestions on a quick/easy way to go about it or what would be considered 'proper'. I asked this in my first thread, but I figure the more opinions the better.

The second thing I'm curious about is drip tips. Are some better than others? Any advice here I should keep in mind? Do I need anything other than a 510 drip tip to get started?

Another question is about the carts. It came with 5. Until I get a drip tip going, how long with these 5 carts last if I put my own drops in them? Is there maintenance on those I need to keep in mind? I imagine I wont want to mix too many different flavors on one tip or the flavors will not come through properly.

Also any general tips and tricks you guys have learned/heard about would be much appreciated. I realize there are probably some things I don't even know what to ask for yet.

Some dry burn, some don't.
I just blow the atomizer out and put 3 drops of e-liquid directly into the atomizer and make sure the cartridge filler is topped off with e-liquid. For the first 3-4 hits off the atomizer-don't inhale and you should be good to go after that.
Drip tips come in different shapes and materials. You can look at NHaler, his work with the ego. SuperTManufacturing has them in wide mouth stainless-choice of shorty or regular. TheEcig also has some made from pyrex glass that are nice-the long slender-tapered one is the one I have. All of the above drip tips work with my Ego. Here in the Forum vendor section you can find other suppliers that supply drip tips. I would e-mail whomever you decide to order from first and verify that their tip will work with the Ego.
As for the carts-Yes, you can reuse them and even pull out the filler and rinse in hot water-restuff your cart and refill with your liquid of choice.
Hope this helps!!!!!!

You blew out your atty and that's great, I wouldn't dry burn but it probably didn't do any hard. I only do it as a last resort to clean an otherwise fouled up atty. They really aren't supposed to get all that hot and liquid will help keep it cooler.

As far as drip tips, I've got cheap deldrin (aka plastic), aluminum, and stainless steel. I prefer the deldrin because it stays cooler, but that's my preference. Besides they're only $1 at some places so you can keep a few spares around.

I don't use carts as I think they're more hassle than they're worth, but that's my opinion. When I did use them they'd last about a day when I kept refilling the same one over and over. After that the filler gets compacted and it doesn't contact the atty bridge very well. You can fluff the filler up with a pin or needle and get a little more use out of it. Better yet, if your atty came with an empty cart just drip on your atty bridge and put that one one as a mouthpiece. A cheap drip tip, but you have to remove it each time you fill.

Keep your atty wet. If dripping, drip 3 drops will give about 10 to 12 hits in my experience. The flavor will change slightly and be kind of burned when it's time to drip again. Recharge your batteries as soon as vapor production starts to drop off and you'll be happier with it. I'd also suggest you keep a couple of extra atty's on hand and at least 10 days, or 30ml of juice. You don't want your last last atty to die, and you don't want to have no juice to vape. Keep stocked. I'd also suggest an extra battery so if one bites it, you won't have to wait on your only battery to charge. Maybe I'm paranoid, I have at least 2 of everything even chargers. I don't want to have to go out and buy a pack of analogs to tide me over until an order arrives.

I hope this helps.

Yes. You did the right thing by blowing it out. I've had some attys that were practically dripping with oil when I got them and others that were dry as a bone. When they're coated with machine oil I rinse them out in hot water. If it's just a little bit I'll blow them out and use them.

The second thing I'm curious about is drip tips. Are some better than others? Any advice here I should keep in mind? Do I need anything other than a 510 drip tip to get started?

This is a matter of personal preference. Some people like the Delrin drip tips. I have the 510/901 drip tips from VaporJunction in Silver, Magenta and Green.

You can drip without a drip tip. Just drip into the atty and use an empty cart. That's what I did when I first tried dripping. Just take the filler out of a cart, rinse out any juice in the cart and dry it. Start dripping with 3 drops on your atty, put the empty cart on and vape away. Take off the cart and add 2 more drops when the flavor changes and vapor production drops off. A drip tip will make this easier because you don't have to take it off to add more drops. I drip most of the time now and only use cartos when I'm away from home and can't drip. The flavor is much better and you won't waste anywhere near as much juice.

Another question is about the carts. It came with 5. Until I get a drip tip going, how long with these 5 carts last if I put my own drops in them? Is there maintenance on those I need to keep in mind? I imagine I wont want to mix too many different flavors on one tip or the flavors will not come through properly.

How long they will last depends completely on you and how you vape. No one can give you a definite time. That's why it really ticks me off when these second rate vendors try to tell people they equal half a pack or a full pack of cigarettes. There's no way of knowing that! Carts and filler can be simply rinsed out, dried in a paper towel and used over and over and over again. Simple, quick.

Also any general tips and tricks you guys have learned/heard about would be much appreciated. I realize there are probably some things I don't even know what to ask for yet.

Hope this helps answer some of your questions! Now, go vape your head off!
