I guess its time I introduce myself. I have been on here reading and researching for some time now. My name is Denise I live in a really small town in Georgia, I am originally from Florida born and raised. I am married to my best friend we have been together since 9th grade, and we are going on 19 years married this year. I have 3 children my oldest son is going to be 23 this year, my middle son is going to be 20 this year and my daughter will be 16.
On to my smoking:
I smoked for 23+ years I have asthma since birth, and recently found out I have COPD. Never thought I would quit smoking really never wanted to honestly. I saw the blu cigarettes while looking for something on the computer one night and showed them to my husband. Then a couple of weeks later we went to Savannah for my doctors appt, and saw electronic cigs at the mall. I decided to check on them again when I got home that night and it led me here to this forum. That began my need for more information and started my desire to get myself one. I thought I could have the best of both worlds I could continue to smoke (well basically lol) and still make everyone happy by quitting the analogs. By everyone I mean my grandmother who raised me, my husband who doesnt smoke and has nagged me to quit for years, my kids, and my doctors who tell me every time they see me that I have to quit. So with this I basically could kill two birds with one stone as they say.
I got my 510 kit in on Feb.16 and Feb. 19 I had my last cigarette I was shocked truly, I never thought even imagined I would see the day that I would be without a cigarette. I was panicky the first two days, kind of like omg I dont have any cigarettes what am I going to do I have to go get some. Then I would calm myself down and realize I didnt really want one it was just the fact that there wasnt any around that had me nervous. I got over that after a couple of days, by the third day I realized I didnt even think about a cigarette that whole day and then I was really really impressed. My husband tells everyone how proud he is of me. I can now smell new things I never realized I missed. Taste things again. Its great.
My lung function has already improved by 72.3% per my pulmonologist. He was very impressed with that. I have more energy. I dont use my rescue inhalers as often. I am not coughing at all.
Just thought I would share my experience and a little about myself with all you great people here. I am here everyday reading all the stories and usually dont comment. I just keep to myself and check back here 3 or 4 times a day and see whats new.
