Congrats for making the decision to quit. For that price I would go ahead and pull the trigger on it. Make sure to try a bunch of flavors before deciding on a juice. I was convinced that menthol would be the only thing I could vape on all day long, and it was my all day vape when I was using an ego. I purchased a mechanical mod off ebay and the vendor sent me some jolly rancher juice which to my surprise is now my all day vape.
Well I did it. Evod it is. Got costal tobacco. Actually I really like the taste. Excited and nervous at the same time.

One of us! One of us! Glad to hear. Good luck on a healthier lifestyle. Nervous about what? Spending all your money on a new fun hobby? :p

Nervous that this won't work for me. I am so determined that I don't think I can go wrong. Plus my hubby may think I am crazy...but if it works for me maybe I can convince him to make the switch too

I was looking at some online pricing vs my local shop. I was surprised the price wasn't bad for the evod. It was $45 for the starter kit and that includes a bottle of juice of your choice. What I have seen online some of them are cheaper but by the time I factor in juice and shipping it was about the same. And some of the places who are super cheap are sold out :( please let me know if you know of a place that has them for a great deal cause I would definitely look into those as well...always up for saving a few $$

The evod is a good starter kit; I'd lean more towards getting it from our local b&m judging from what you said so far.

I'm glad you got your starter kit! I was nervous just like you were. I wanted it to work so badly, but was a little afraid that it would not. The first couple of days I think the ego hardly left my hands. I kept waiting for the "horrible craving/urge to light up a cigarette." Guess what, it did not come! I had some vague anxious feelings for a day or so, like I was waiting for the shoe to drop. It didn't drop, and I didn't smoke!

I did up my nicotine mg. the first week from 18 mg to 24 mg, because I was a heavy 2 pack a day smoker for many years. The gal at the vape shop where I got my first juice sold me the 18 mg, but I decided it was lacking a little. Within hours of using the 24 mg. I felt totally comfortable, and have been ever since. I'm coming up on two months with no cigarettes since the day I started vaping, and I couldn't be happier. I'm still somewhat amazed at how painless this has been.

You can do this.:)

Tarener, if you're determined to quit smoking and take your vaping seriously then it will work! Don't stop searching until you find the devices that work best for you. There are so many available that there is literally something for everyone. Frequent support forums such as this and try to get your hubby involved. If he sees that your having success with vaping and enjoying it, he may be willing to give it a try.

I made due with a Blu setup for about a month before I decided to do my research online. I went through a couple different 808 models before I finally switched to an ego style & switched to metal/glass cartos instead of plastic c4 and c5s that tended to leak eventually.

Pretty happy with my set up now. But like every other vaper, I'm always watching the new stuff for better. ;)

I'm going to give you my :2c: because I was RIGHT where you are, only about a month and a half ago! When I started, I did the EXACT same thing you're doing, I came here and asked for advice and honestly came out of it even more confused and frustrated because just about EVERYONE said DO NOT BUY A CIG A LIKE! And that's what I wanted, something small and discreet and it kinda made me mad that everyone was telling me not to go that route. I didn't listen, I got a V2 kit, LOVED the manual battery, as a noob, it actually lasted all day between charges and I was happy... to an extent.

As of today, I've gone through the V2 sets, ego/evod sets and a ridiculous number of tanks and a month and a half later, I did EXACTLY what EVERYONE here said I'd do. I now use a Sigelei Zmax mini mod and a Sigelei V3 telescope mod, I use Carto Tanks because they don't give me dry/burnt hits and I've been completely of analogs since I got those mods. I also use the Itaste VV V3 and it's a great device as well, love the smaller form factor of it and it's not complicated (not saying my Zmax's are, but for a beginner, it's easy to understand)!

I'm NOT going to tell you not to buy cig a likes, I understand what you're trying to do and if it gets you into the vaping world and off the analogs, it's serving it's purpose. I actually do still use my small V2 from time to time, I still think it's a great device for beginners, BUT the problem I had when I was using only that was that it wasn't satisfying enough, I would actually crave an analog MORE after vaping from it. I kept saying 'I don't want to use anything bigger than this, I WANT small and compact', but until I went to my local vape shop and they put my first VV device in my hand and said, 'sit, use it!', I had NO idea what I was missing. Everyone is different though, I'm not you. I'm so stubborn, I had to go through the steps on my own terms and even though I spent a lot more money then I would have if I'd just listened to these guys from day one, I don't regret it.

As far as the Mig Cig, I don't know much about it, not enough to say if it's great or not, I have seen a LOT of rave about it, but if those are your choices, I'd suggest an ego/evod. IF you MUST have a smaller sized 'cig a like', I agree that you should find one that's 510 threaded because you'll have more options that way, all of my tanks are 510 threaded, the ones I'm using NOW, with my mods and that is at least one way to save money down the road.

Feel free to PM me with questions, I'm FAR from being an expert, but I was in your shoes just last month! Sorry this was so long!

My husband did think I was crazy lol, but now he's got three set up's of his own (ego Twists) and he didn't even smoke more than one or two cigs a day so he didn't NEED to switch, he could have quit smoking without any issue, it's the dipping we're working on!

Actually, I'm working on both vlog and blog for quitting help for light smokers. Both my sister and I smoked less than 7 a day, usual was 4 to 5. My sister is an RN, but can't quit. She can go for two weeks without smoking, then jump on the bandwagon without a thought. She started back on the gum when I told her I quit smoking using the vape (she is stubborn about not wanting to try these yet, but I think she went back to smoking).

For folks like us, no, you can't just cold turkey it. It's the addiction not only to the small amounts of nicotine, and other addictive chemicals used by BT, but also the social aspect of hand to mouth, when first wake up, with coffee, after meals. Yes, it does tend to be a LITTLE easier to switch to vaping, and I had to lower my nic levels to 6mg within a week, but make no mistake, nothing worked to get me to quit except this. Cold turkey couldn't last, gotta have it, you still get the cravings, just after 6 to 12 hours. The patch was too strong, don't even want to talk about those ridiculous pills (wouldn't even try them), and 2mg mini lozenges still had me craving.

Fact is, it's the chemical and psychological addiction for the light smoker. I've vaped way more than I've smoked, must do some constant hour long puffing during a strong crave. But it goes away. Occasionally, a wave of urge strikes while drinking coffe, but that too passes. However, when walking by a smoker just finished with his cig, the smell was overpowering, boy - did that stink. Can't wait to be truly free.

I agree with everything Baditude said. In fact, if I had it to over again, knowing what I know now, I would have saved the money I spent on egos too and just picked up a Provari. It's more money up front, but I ended up spending it anyway only now I have a bunch of devices I don't use anymore.

That said, I understand the desire for the cig-alike style and even if someone had told me to skip to something more advanced and save the money over the long haul, I would have ignored them, so certainly don't feel bad if that's what you end up doing. Many of us do.
