One thing I want to ask on this thread - the heat guard which protects against shorts, has anyone ever noticed a funky taste if the coil is touching the heat guard? In any head that has a heat guard, I notice that the coils always touch it, and since it's probably made of silica or something very alike, yet doesn't get wet with juice, I could assume that the touching could funk up a flavor by a bit, but I don't really know.
Also, I want to ask, truly which type of cotton (that I could buy at Walmart) is the healthiest for trying out flavor wicks and things? I've heard that even the organic cotton has hydrogen peroxide and I'm not willing to try that out. Is the rolled cotton chemical free? I also wouldn't bet on my Walmart having cheesecloth, or the workers knowing which type of cheesecloth is chemical-free (if there are chemical variants), but I really want to try cotton in the long run as a wick as well.
