I was entering one of my usual long-winded posts last night and accidentally hit backspace when the cursor had lost text box focus.... in Firefox on Windows that means go back a page (like clicking the back button). I lost the entire post. I know there are ways to edit posts outside and paste em in, but it ticked me off enough to go and look up the solution. Thought I'd share.
To turn off the "Backspace=Go Back to previous link" function in Firefox:
1) Go to about:config (type that into the address bar, press enter)
2) promise to be careful (and be careful)
3) find the entry for browser_backspace_action
4) double-click that line
5) in the pop-up dialog box change the integer value to 2 (it's probably a 0 or a 1) and press enter
6) exit out
Don't know if this is a dupe, but it will help while editing posts in ECF... IDK if this is the perfect sub-forum for this either, but it is kind of an "editing help" for Firefox users.
Good Luck!
P.S. that's Firefox not Firefix .... title was wrong. Funny.
