I hate to say this but it seems the gale force winds just wont let up. Imeo please be safe and I pray that they will get this under control. Keep your family safe.

When I was a kid, my family home burned to the ground. In the middle of winter in the middle of the night.
I have 9 brothers and sisters. It was so scary. Mom and dad counted heads and my younger brother was missing. Just as dad was going to climb in a window that was Francis's bedroom, the window blew out at him. Mom and dad were running around frantic thinking that Francis was still in the house. Silly Francis was finally found hiding in the woods.
We all did get out of the house safe. We only had our nightgowns and pajama's on. I remember we were all crying for our Christmas presents. I remember our nieghbors took us kids in that night and gave us warm clothes and blankets and tried to comfort us.
Losing all our family pictures and baby albums almost broke my mom. She wasn't quite right for a long time after the fire.

They have shown the fires on the TV here in Australa as well,
it looks very bad, the winds are terrible, and the fire is running very fast,
it is very dangerous,
but it is not onto the city ,
the wind shifted and that is a blessing --------
so pray for the firefighters
and the water and chemical bombers to be successful in arresting it soon.

Thanks suzi for this thread and all of you people that concern about me. Fires are an every year thing here. Last year was worse. The reasons for fires are 2.
1) Some smart guys want to build houses to burned places and some others wants to stop out tourism. You cant start a fire by a cigarette or a piece of glass, thats nonsense. Have you notice that fires starts everytime we have strong winds? Some people are murders. They kill the most precious thing in the planet. This is the earth they want to give to our children

I'm just glad you and your family are safe Imeo....thank God the winds shifted. Its a damn shame people like to start fires to scare people. Greece is just a beautiful place with so much history. I want to go there one day just to see the beautiful landscapes and historical columns that are left over after so many earth quakes Greece has had. Its really neat how those columns are made.
