Firing coil delay issues?

New Reonaut here looking for some advice.

I received my Reo + RM6 on Wednesday. I quickly wrapped a couple of coils (.84Ohm) so I could use it that night. It was working flawlessly before I left the house, and all night. I had several drinks that night so I used my Reo quite a bit. I woke up the next day and didn't use it all that much, but I didn't notice any issues.

Well today, I'm noticing that there is a delay after firing the button before the coils heat up and I get vapor. I am using Samsung 25r Button Tops, and I noticed there are black specks on the nipple of the battery. I also checked the firing pin and did see a little oxidization on it, so I cleaned it with a white eraser. It was vaping a little better for an hour or two and now it's back to having the delay.

I do have a couple AW IMR 18650 2000mAh at home that I'm going to try since AW's are recommended for the Reo. I'm not sure if it's the Samsung 25r's or not. I bought the Samsung's so I could go below a .5 Ohm coil.

Anyone else ever have a firing delay? How did you fix it? Could it be my batteries?

Clean the firing pin with alcohol too. It sounds like it is dirty.

If you have it use some Deoxit on firing pin and batteries, or if not - Noalox will work. The flecks on your battery are caused by arcing between battery and firing pin.

Some solid advice sounds to me like its dirty I didn't hear you mention using noalox or deoxit . I no some guys get away without using it but I find it makes my mods run flawlessly never a misfire

Thanks guys! After work I stopped by Home Depot and grabbed some Noalox and Rubbing Alcohol. I came home to vape mail (KGD Cotton & Coil Jig). I cleaned the firing pin with Rubbing Alcohol and put a thin coat of Noalox on it. I wrapped some coils, loaded up some KGD, and the Reo is like new! It's vaping awesome, no delay!

My coils came out to .77 so I'm using my AW IMR batteries. I haven't tried the Samsungs yet, but I don't see the need unless I decide to build something lower than .5.

Glad you got it sorted. If you do decide to go lower than .5, I would advise not to use that AW IMR 18650 2000mAh. It is only rated 10 amp.

Keith, these are the AW's you need. We all love them in the Reo Grand. (Button Top and 20a)

For 3 years, I used AW2000 with my 306 and 510 atomizers, because the AW1600 somehow were not sold here in Germany. For these atomizers above 1.2ohm, the AW2000 worked just fine and brought me through a standard work day.
After switching to RBAs 6 month ago, I wanted better performing batteries. Since the AW 2200 were not published yet, I bought Samsung25r and have been happy with them till today. They produce 20A output and are comparable to AW 2200 imho. I have used them with all my builds (down to .45 ohm).
If you are already using Samsung25r, the switch to AW2200 will probably not be a remedy to your problems. I would assume a voltage drop to be the reason.

I'm not positive, but I believe I read recently that AW2200s are simply 'cherry picked' Samsungs. AW is not a manufacturer of batteries. AW tests and selects the best of the lot, and rewraps and labels.

Is your spring in original condition? It didn't collapse with a short at some point?
I just ask because I'm using Samsung INR 25-R's and they're my current favorite - fit snug, long run time, and no arc or contact issues...

My builds tend to run .8 or so too. And while I have started putting a dab of Deoxit at contact points, I never had any arcing, I just figured "why not?".
