I received my purple mini yesterday and am having a bit of trouble with it not firing at times. I don't know if it's user error or something else, so I'm trying to rule things out. I got to looking at the firing pin and I'm wondering if it's in the correct position because it looks like it's more toward the back of the firing pin opening versus the center. I don't have a decent camera to take a pic of this sorry. Where in the opening for the firing pin should the firing pin sit?

I was having this same issue, and was fronted with some disappointed until I found my answer on the very pages of the forum... So maybe I can help you out!?
I believe your pin is in the correct position, as mine was there when I first got it, and is now back in that position after messing with it a bunch. Did you by chance get a button cover? After reading some about the button cover, I hadn't fully secured mine on yet with anything - really because I wasn't sure how to at first... the button cover just pressed on bare (at least the black delrin I got) went down a hair too far, so that when I pressed the button, the firing pin only went down to flush with the black delrin cover above the battery. Once I secured it the button properly with a piece of string (just clipped from my uniform lol!), the button covers sets slightly higher, and just enough to fully depress the firing pin down to the battery top. Hopefully this is clear enough to steer you in the right direction, if you in fact have the button cover and same problem I was having!

I have a button cover but have not used it yet. Thank you so much for posting this though! Now I know to watch for this when I do use it!

I see Penny, maybe the button top battery is indeed not lining up correctly - I am using flat top Sony VTC5s, so lining up exactly may not be as much of an issue. I think the pin should be center over the bottom of the button, but not necessarily center of the black cover's hole, if that makes sense. If it indeed off center of the button, I would suggest taking the black delrin cover above the battery off to help align the firing pin better. It will help being able to see everything, and be much easier to get to. Just be mindful not to screw the cover back down too tightly - just snug will be plenty - just a precaution so nothing gets stripped ;)

Note: I added some comments above with an edit.

Thanks Karen. I have the gold firing pin, which is shaped differently, but the placement looks just like yours.

I did a test. I put a small bit more of noalox on the firing pin then checked the battery for a noalox spot on the button after firing. There was a slight smudge of noalox on the button. So my firing pin is good to go I think.

For future reference this thread will let you see lots of things: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/reos-mods/357012-photos-reo-descriptions-comparisons-more.html

It makes it easy to find a pic when a question is asked!

If it seems like its not making full contact with your button top you can nudge it a bit. I had one that was just catching the back of the battery button. When firing the nib on the pin would try to slip down the back of the button and it pushed the battery foward a tiny bit. I was having to roll the battery every few hits to reseat it.

Take out the battery, push down your fire button enough to easily reach the pin, (about half way) then use small screw driver to gently nudge it into position.
