You want a high drain battery. The Panasonic NCR18650B 3400mah battery you linked to is not a high drain battery. It is a "hybrid chemistry" which is more ICR than IMR, with only 6.8 amps continuous discharge rating. Why High Drain Batteries?

Most high drain 18650 IMR batteries on the market will have at least 10 amps continuous discharge rating. Don't be charmed by the 3400 mah specification of the above battery; there's more to choosing a battery for a mod than just choosing one with the most mah capacity. These batteries were designed for flashlights. You'll get much bettery performance from your regulated VV/VW mod if you get one of the following batteries:

AW IMR
18650 2000mah 10Amps

LG hybrid
LG18650HE2 2500mah 20A

Panasonic or Orbtronic hybrid
CGR18650CH (IMR/hybrid) 2250mAh 10A
NCR18650BD 3200mAh 10A
NCR18650PF 2900mAh 10A
NCR18650PD 2900mAh 10A
Orbtronic 18650 SX22 2000mAh 22A
Orbtronic 18650 2500mAh 21A
Orbtronic 18650 SX30 2100mAh 30A

Samsung hybrid
INR18650-22P 2200mAh 10A
INR18650-20R 2000mah 22A
INR18650-25R 2500mAh 20A

Sony hybrid
18650VTC4 2100mAh 30A
18650VTC5 2600mAh 30A

Efest IMR
18650 2250mAh 10A

Ummmm, probably not. If you notice, that battery isn't listed in the above list.

Efest doesn't actually manufacture all of their batteries; many are bought from other manufacturers and re-wrapped with the Efest label. They also have a reputation for over-rating some of their battery specs. :glare: The purple Efest 18650 3100mah "20 amp" battery is actually a re-wrapped Panasonic 18650 NCR18650BE 3100 mah battery with only 6 amps continuous discharge. Another battery that is best suited for a flashlight application.

Purple Efest Batteries Not As Advertised

The Panasonic/Orbtronic NCR18650A 3100 mah 6.8 amp battery is another one to stay away from. Again, better suited for a low drain application like a flashlight.

don't skimp on the charger; charging is one of those things you have to pay attention to with safety

look for xtar, nitecore, pilar

Battery Chargers. Get the best charger that you can reasonably afford. Statistically most battery incidents occur while charging. Pila, Xtar, and Nitecore Intellicharger are the most recommended brands.

Thats a generic, no-name charger of questionable quality. Quality batteries deserve a quality charger. In fact, your batteries and charger are the most important items in your setup, not the mod or delivery device. Don't cheap out on cheap stuff, its not worth it in the long run.

If you must buy from SlowTech, get the brand name Nitecore Intellicharger i2. This is an affordable, quality charger.
