ABSTRACT

I hate the noise the Kr8 makes.

I hate the dryness the Kr8 leaves in the back of my mouth and throat.
The flavors suck and can hardly taste them. I only feel the dryness.

I feel disorganized with all the equipment and cartomizers.

I should have chosen the manuals from Pure Smoker since the autos really aren't necessary to have and since the manuals are more durable.

I don't even label my cartomizers, opting for the stainless steel. I can tell when it is menthol, but otherwise, I have to guess what flavor it is since I really can't tell the difference between coffee, tobacco, and mountain dew flavors.

DETAILS

I have the V4L Vapor King (Kr8) kit. More supplies are on order. I'm using 18-24 mg flavors from different sources, both liquid and pre-filled, and have diy supplies.

I seemed to get a good bit of flavor during the first hour. After that, the taste went down hill and couldn't really tell the difference between flavors. Furthermore, I get this very dry feeling in the back of my mouth and throat, which I guess is the throat hit and tends to cause displeasure.

The digital puts out more vapor than the analogs put out smoke. I still have no idea why this is important for people.

The primer puff is kind of annoying, and I'm having problems getting enough nicotine. I've been hitting it hard. I don't think I'm inhaling as deeply because the vapor is bland, nasty, or hurts while the Pall Malls are smooth and tasty. The analogs are definitely easier to manage, and I question the price savings of digital. I don't even feel comfortable smoking inside with the digital so I'm not sure being able to smoke inside is much of an advantage.

I guess it does deliver nicotine and would help you quit smoking since you'll end up getting disgusted with the expense and hassle of vapor. Perhaps, just getting nicotine-flavored candy would be an easier and more effective method of quitting than the marvel of being able to vape from your USB port and have a black or platinum e-cig with an LED. I do feel a bit paranoid some cop is going to pull me over or tazer me thinking I'm smoking something funny rather than vaping.

When I refilled the liquid, a couple of cartomizers would eject liquid in my mouth. I helped control this by inserting a small piece of paper towel between the mouthpiece plug and the stuffing to catch the excess liquid. I think I need to let them sit longer.

I tend to hold the e-cig like a pipe in public with a stealth drag, but the noise seems a little wierd. I'm very paranoid about the noise being bothersome and loud.

I can see how not caring about the size of the equipment wouldn't matter since it goes in the pocket and since the equipment is mostly concealed in the hand.

The vacuum switch in one of my Kr8 batteries already went bad. I can see where the manual would be more durable. My dad repaired microelectronics for most of his life so I got him to take it apart and look at it. He was able to conclude it was the vacuum switch though he couldn't repair it. he couldn't even figure out what piece of it was the vacuum switch.

My holding style is already like a pipe so I can see where having a manual would be just as convenient as the auto. The only advantage of the auto would be it not going off in the pocket whereas the manual would be more durable and wouldn't need to do a primer puff, which is a bit unnatural to me still.

I should have opted for the manual kit from Pure Smoker, and might go ahead and go that route though I still have 3 black dvr9 autos being shipped from China, along with a PCC and 25 empty black cartomizers.

I have a nice mini keyring carrying case. it can hold 3 bottles of 6 ml liquid or 8 cartomizers. I'm carrying around 8 cartomizers rather than liquid. I keep tissue, napkin, and mini-tweezers in the case too. I'll keep two batteries in my pocket, and probably need to get a small carrying pouch for the batteries. I'll keep the PCC in the truck as a recharger with a spare battery. I'm not even carrying the other vinyl carrying case. I don't want a hard case in my pocket. I'll throw the ones for cleaning in a zip lock bag. I'm keeping all the liquids and measuring supply in an old diabetes bag I got from step mother. I probably need to get a camera-style bag to hold everything that I don't carry around with me during the day or when I go on extended stay and need to throw in the pt and rechargers. I wanted to get a larger camera bag for my camera so I can probably use my old camera bag. i really just need a mini bag that can hold about 6-8 full carts in one side of a divided pocket and 6-8 empty carts in another pocket and store the tweezers, and paper tower, with an external pocket to hold 2-4 assembled batteries.

The "taboo" (RY4) juice was a bit too sweet and rich for my tastes, like a gallon of sweet tea with two cups of sugar rather than just one while the "honey flue cured" juice was a bit bland, like a green tea. The cappuchino was a bit too roasted and strong, like a triple stout. The caramel sample was bland. However, they are all tolerable. The banana freebie was good. I'm still waiting for TV pina colada and german chocolate. I threw out the gin and juice liquid before trying it because it had a foul, evasive odor. The mountain dew freebie tasted as artificial as the real thing and didn't care for it -- it was a bit bland too. The kamel menthol freebie actually tasted like a camel menthol, but I don't care for menthol. The smilin menthol freebie was a loud menthol. I'm guessing the branded tobacco flavors is what I should have chose, though I steered clear since they seem to get bad reviews here, along with fruit flavors I like, such as banana, peach, and melon.

I was able to use SOS pads (steel wool) on the cartomizers to remove the glue from the stickers and get down to the stainless steel to match the batteries in the same stainless steel. I was even able to remove the logo using the steel wool on the V4L Vapor King batteries. The steel wool didn't remove the white paint on the PT. I'd imagine the white will eventually appear dingy so I wouldn't mind replacing the PT with the manual PT from Pure Smoker.

The AC adapter and USB charger has a small form factor and short cord, making it easy to transport and to sit near your computer without adding to the cord mess. The AC adapter has 200mA output, so having a standard 500mA output on your USB hub should be plenty of power. There is no need for a high-powered 1-2A USB port (a high-powered port would recharge the battery faster, but it would cause it to overheat and could shorten battery life). However, I'd still recommend getting USB hub with it's own wall adapter with regulated power output to protect your computer and batteries. I picked one up for $12 from the local computer store.

I feel like I wasted a lot of cash I didn't have to waste. I should have bought 250ml of 100 mg/ml PG-based nicotine, mixed it with a fifth of rum and some some pina colada mix, and dropped it on my tongue to get my fix until I'm weened off -- or perhaps get the commit longzes (i can't even spell it). Or I should have quit cold turkey and spent the cash on two new Kombi attachments for the Stihl or a new eMachine from Best Buys.
