I received two KR808D-1 manual batteries recently. These are the only KR8 batteries I have and they are KR8 (great...!!!).

My question concerns the charging of these batteries.

The light on my chargers operates differently from my DSE901 batteries and from any other batteries I've read about. I'm sure it's not a problem with the batteries since both of them do exactly the same thing and end up being fully charged.

  • When I plug a battery into the charger (either the AC charger from my DSE901 kit (2 of them) or USB universal charger (3 of them)) the charger's light will go red but the blue light on the end of the battery does not blink.
  • After a couple of minutes the charger's light will change color (green for the AC charger, blue for the USB charger).
  • After a couple more minutes the charger's light will go red again and the blue light on the end of the battery will blink like it should.
  • From then on everything is normal and the battery takes a full charge.
Has anyone heard of or seen this before?

Weird behavior, especially since it takes a few minutes to change color, are you making sure it is screwed in properly at first? Sometimes I have to fiddle with it a bit to make sure there's contact.

For me, when I plug my battery in the wall adapter, the wall charger will change from blue to red (red=charging and blue=charged) and at the same time the battery led will blink about 5 times to tell me "contact made, I'm chargin, don't touch me".

Yes the batteries are screwed in properly. This happens with all the chargers I have; AC and USB universal.

For me, when I plug my battery in the wall adapter, the wall charger will change from blue to red (red=charging and blue=charged) and at the same time the battery led will blink about 5 times to tell me "contact made, I'm chargin, don't touch me".
That's the indication my 901 batteries give when attached to the charger.

One other note on the KR8 batteries: This strange behavior happens only after the low battery indicator blinks. If I put them in the charger when only partially discharged the charging begins as it should, ie, the charger's light changes color and the battery's LED blinks, and the charger progresses normally.

I've seen that happen to mine at times. I always thought (could be wrong though) it was because the battery was completely drained...and once it got a bit of a charge then I'd see the bat blink three times.
That seems to be what's happening to mine. See the last paragraph in my last post for more detail.
