I've been vaping now for about 2 years, I've been all rebuildable for over a year now. So far I have been using braided silica, but the B&M I got it from stopped carrying it. I found some online so I stocked up, but this new stuff is awful. It lasts half as long, if that, and the silica taste that usually goes away in a few hours never goes away. It also doesn't wick as fast. I got so frustrated with it that today I pulled the wick out and fed a cotton ball through the same coil. This far I've been enjoying the hell out of this, I just need to get out of the habit of drying my wicks out, and figure out how to build a coil without the wick.

Micro Screw drivers or Drill bits work well too! Plus there are lots of Coil "jigs" out now that supposedly work really well!

I have yet to try silica and enjoy it. I use plain ol' cotton balls from Wal-Mart.

The problem with silica is that it loads terrible. The stuff that I was getting was an off brand ecowool, between the way it's formed and the ceramic core this stuff would soak up and hold a lot of juice. The problem with the new stuff is that there is no ceramic core so it has the same problem as basic silica. I'm just really aggravated because I bought 20m for $20 and it's all down the drain.

anyway I went all in and got myself a coil jig, its nothing fancy just a rod with multiple diameters and a handle. It works well enough and I've been playing around with building coils. I now have all my devices built for cotton, the resistance is a little higher than I would prefer but I'm sure I'll figure it out with time. It is a little more work than I'm used to but I'm sure I'll get used to it.
