When I first starting this vaping thing I never wanted to delve any farther than a nice VV battery and tank. Simple, easy to maintain, nothing too technical. I really didn't want anything to do with building coils or rebuilding atomizers or anything of the sort. When I saw a thread awhile back about rewicking protank coils I read the first couple posts and moved on rather quickly.

Went to a B&M today with a brand new vaper who wanted to try some new flavors. While she was sampling I was browsing the counter displays. A box filled with cotton balls in ziploc bags caught my eye and on the spur of the moment I asked if they had Japanese cotton. She did and brought out a small bag. It was marked .99 and I handed her a buck and change and stuffed it in my pocket thinking I'd probably have better used that dollar to blow my nose.

Came home, watched a video on youtube, wicked my first coil and... it works :) Gurgles a little but I can tell a difference in the flavor of my juice.

Now I'm wondering where I put those damn drill bits... I'd hate to have to buy one just for coil building.

You can buy a 2 pack of drill bits at Lowes for $2-3 a pack, or you can buy a cheap precision screwdriver set, which actually is easier than using drill bits, I started with drill bits, but use the screwdrivers for better grip when wrapping and it helps make sure coils are touching tightly.

Thanks for the tip :)

Congrats on your first Kanger rebuild! I own several dedicated rebuildables and I honestly prefer the ease and consistency of rebuilding Kanger heads. I leave the silicon grommet off of the chimney most of the time and leaking isn't generally an issue for me unless I went too light on the wick. I use single coil Protank heads for my rebuilds.

Hmmm that could very well have been the issue then. Thanks!

Once you get the hang of rebuilding coils I suggest trying the Kayfun Lite Plus by Ehpro. Super easy to build compared to protank heads and you can wick them with cotton.

To me its just like a carto tank on steroids! Before carto tanks was all I used so they are perfect for me. I rewick them every few days and only have to recoil them like once a month.
