I wanted to order some stuff from Avid(Cisco) but his Canada shipping is kinda steep - $27 for Priority! Anyone know if 1st class International ($7) is traceable? I know there's no updated tracking on anything below Express, I'm fine with that, I'm only worried about "loss with no recourse".

I always order Canadian, but these items are not available here.

Thanks

Not sure what you mean by traceable but first class international is what i always use if i can.

USPS stopped offering tracking on anything lower than Express service. Priority falls into that category, you get a "tracking number" but it doesn't get updated or scanned. It is traceable in terms of delivery confirmation, and insurable.

My question is, does 1st class have that as well, do you get a tracking number or anything? If you send a letter regular mail and they lose it, you're outta luck. If it's traceable/insured and they lose it, you can file a claim. Ever lose a 1st class package?

Switched, I said in the OP that I shop in Canada, except when items are not available here. And yes, his 1st class rate is very reasonable, just wondering if it has delivery confirmation or insurance, or if they lose it I'm humped.

1st Class International is the same as a mailed letter, and intended for that purpose. It won't be tracked.

"This service, along with Priority Mail and Express Mail, is ideal for sending personal correspondence, handwritten or typewritten letters, and bills or statements of account. It may also be used for advertisements and lightweight merchandise"

Depends on what you order really. If you have one atomizer that you don't need in a hurry and are prepared to have lost in customs for the next 2 months, sure.

If your order is acutally worth something and you want it soon, I wouldn't consider that... Get USPS (because they are the cheapest if that is what you are after) but using there lowest priced tracked service like Priority, which seems to be the suggestion of the vendor anyhow.

I figured as much, thank you for the reply. I always go with Priority but he wants $27 for a $12 flat rate box. He does Priority envelopes for $17, not sure how safe that is for attys though.

He should just use a Canadian supplier as a reseller imo.

You will get a tracking number that doesn't update until delivery but at least you will have proof if an order gets lost.

Btw, I just got an order from AV and it arrived in 4 days. Fastest order I've gotten from the US is the past 2 years. Get the cheapest shipping. It's still secure and it arrives just as fast.

Exactly what I wanted to hear, thanks Nuck! I don't care about tracking updates, or if it takes longer. Frankly USPS never updates their tracking no matter what service you use lol

Thanks all, enjoy your Sunday
