Phil Busardo's absorbency tests were a surprise to me. Japanese cotton produced the first absorption and infiltration of the paper, followed by rayon, then hemp, and finally organic cotton.
What I wondered was whether any of the four would be preferable if a dry wick condition caused them to suddenly burn. Would you want one over the others in that case? All are natural products of agricultural origin . Phil burned each and they all turned to powdery ash under a torch.
