I usually go to the local shop to get rebuilds, mainly out of laziness. Tonight one of my coils broke and the shops closed, so I decided to take a go at it. I used 26 gauge kanthal, at seven wraps. I couldn't find any nails to wrap the wire around so I ended up using about a 2 mm toothpick. The wraps aren't that great, but it was the best I could do with my shaky hands. my ohm reader says its at .45 ohms. And suggestions and or concerns? Its not going to blow up on me is it?

Thought I recognized your name. Yea your perfectly fine. Make sure that the coil is fastened tight, and not touching anything but the mounting points and you should be good.

You should be good. just keep a feel on the mod for any heat coming from the battery. Feel heat, pull the battery and toss the atty back on the ohm meter to make sure no shorts.

And Congrats on your first coil man.

Oh and real hot, like burning, toss the whole thing outside.

the only thing with wiggly coils is that you can end up with uneven wick resulting in hotspots where parts of the coil and wick dont meet, you can test for any by giving the atty a few test fires for the length of time you would take a toot without your top cap on and looking for any parts of the wire that glow. Hotspots will give you a harsh rough vape & sore throat.
Congrats on taking the initiative with making your own coil though :)
